The Old Folks Home

Guess there's some serious cold heading into the upper great plains and Ohio valley over the coming days. Saying it's gonna set all kinds of new records. Hope you northern tier folks are all set to go for this one! When they say "life threatening wind chills", I take notice.
It has already started here. The current temp is -15, with -37 windchill. By tomorrow night, the temperature is supposed to be -34. The chickens are all tucked in, but my horses don't have a very good windbreak. I have a blanket on one, but coulnd't find one to fit the other one (he has a short body). So far, neither of them is shivering. Not much I can do for them, other than give them some grain and make sure they have plenty of water and hay.

If they have a nice fat and hair layer they should be ok. The snow needs to sit on their back without melting.

Can't stick up a plywood sheet, or park a big truck near them?

They are nice and fat, and have good hair. They have an old drafty barn to go in. It kind of stops the wind... They can also stand outside the barn and be out of the wind. I just worry. They're 22 and 24.
