The Old Folks Home

The borer is the larval stage of a moth that is very pretty!

You would see some holes in the bark and often a section of the tree will go yellow first.

It is a real problem here!

The larvae over winter in the soil and Plum trees harbor them. The nematodes kill the larvae and the worms. Spinosad will kill them on the tree. I will also use dormant oil.

The leaves and matter around both the peach and plum trees should be removed in the fall too.
So no mulch? I should probably plant my nectarine tree away from the plum trees, just in case then.

I would too! I did not know that plum trees were a source of the borer moths

You can mulch in the spring. The larvae will over winter in the fall in the mulch

Good morning all bought nematode something then backed out of using it

Good morning my friend! Congrats on the weight loss. I need to lose a lot more.
I just lost a perfectly healthy Turkey poult because it rolled over on it's back and couldn't get up. It was right under the light, and got overheated and died. The other one that hatched had curled toes, which I put shoes on. It can't walk much. I took the shoes off today. Hope the poor thing survives.

I'm so sorry. I know what a jolt something like that is when it happens.Go out tonight, have a good time. Eat crab legs until you start walking sideways and then pop more turkey eggs in the incubator tomorrow!

It's been raining hard here this afternoon. How hard? Need to fit the pups with waterwings hard. Two inches since this morning. There are flash flood warnings out but so far no severe weather. Thank God!
