The Old Folks Home

That is great that they listen to you! Maybe lives were saved!
That is an incredible amount of rain! Do you have rain barrels? Hubby set up a water barrel system for the house, with a 55 gallon barrel and a 275 gallon overflow , all to water the garden. Now if it would just rain. We also catch the water from the air conditioner in a 5 gallon bucket, and I have a water barrel for the original coop. We have a well, so we like to conserve water where we can.
I have one small 20 or 25 gallon bucket that used to be a stock mineral holder and a large stock tank that I catch rainwater in for the birds and to use to water the garden when needed....like it's been needed this spring. Geesh is all I can say.

DH bought two 60 gallon drums for me earlier this spring. I need to get them rinsed out and set up. These are the big drums that things like bulk pasta are shipped in.

Since my hydrant is down, I use these pretty much through the growing season and into fall to water the birds.

Happy Memorial Day everyone. No big plans here. Will probably grill out burgers today if the weather holds along with some corn on the cob. I woke up at 5 AM to the sound of thunder and another downpour. We got 1/2 inch of rain out of the latest storm with more due through Wednesday night. My poor garden was doing so well now it's a swamp. My snap peas are blooming but my onions are just struggling not to rot in the ground. Too much of a good thing. If it continues on into summer it will be unusual to say the least. More than likely it will turn off like a faucet then get hot and dry by July 4th. Everything is so green that it almost hurts your eyes.

Have eggs due to hatch over the next couple of days. My first broody has started to lay again but is still offering her chicks her services as Mom by letting them cuddle with her at night. I'll probably turn them out into the coop today to give the new mom somewhere to go that isn't flooded.

@ronott1....so, why aren't you carrying on the tradition? You could probably still his call sign if it hasn't been reassigned.

Donuts.....will never be able to eat them again.:drool:hitCan't drink wine or have a beer, can't eat a Snickers bar or M&Ms:hitespecially since I have my gout meds on hold. I did jump the fence and eat sour cream and cheddar potato chips the other day. Man were they good. Didn't suffer so I ate some more. Don't tell anybody.

But donuts? Oh sweet Lordie would I love to dive into the middle of them and eat my way out of the pile! Smear them with chocolate frosting and they would never be seen again.

And they are telling me to keep my weight stable and not loose anymore. Hard to do when all you can eat is chicken and veggies.:rant

Yes Penny, the donuts look scrumptious!

And Cap, those bunnies are soo cute.

The Amish dress out rabbits and sell them here for 8.00 apiece. Yep, a steal.

Last couple springs, around Easter I've seen rabbits for sale at Price Chopper grocery store, just a few whole vacuum wrapped. Pretty expensive, think they were around $15 or so for 2.5 lbs.
I do need to keep my eye out for them. I have not had rabbit in a couple of years

Is there a place to check call signs?

Is there a place to check call signs?
Sure is! It's: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchAmateur.jsp

You can either search using his name or using his call sign. If interested in getting it all you have to do is pass your Technician class test. They will assign you a call sign, then you request what they call a 'vanity' call sign using a deceased member's old call number if it is still available.

You're a smart guy, Ron! You could do this in a snap!
