The Old Folks Home

I still get a yard full of fireflies in the summer up here in the mountains. A few years ago, my grown children (in their 30s) came up for a visit, and the two of them ended up chasing/catching them out in the yard. I always keep marshmallows and sticks available for when they make a fire. They always roll their eyes at me, but then come back in the house with an empty bag and sticky faces. Good times.Oh! And, I had forgotten all about the word "pollywog". I think that's a northern term. Down here, they're tadpoles. I think I like pollywog better. :)

yes, I remember the word tadpoles! We do call them tadpoles out here in the west, I do remember catching them as a kid..and the fireflies. Marshmallows..over a fire..they have to be just before the burnt stage. :))

Tadpoles was our word of choice as well. I really miss fireflies here in the Rockies...just too dang dry for 'em :( As a little'un we caught 'em and put 'em in jars and then as I got older, we liked to just sit out on the back porch and watch all the twinkling lights.

SCG that's the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
We always called him the "FBI" though. My dad always got a kick out of it

It took me a second to figure out what you were talking about. Probably because I'm a transplant to Maine. I still don't get it and have to stop myself from doing Marylander things like starting seeds indoors in February.

Can I tell you though that I've been to Freeport probably 20 times and have never seen the BFI.

You know those stereotypes about dweebs where they walk with their heads down and don't notice the world around them? Don't judge. You'll just hurt your brain.

Here's two 30-somethings for ya:
