The Old Folks Home

Not quite, DD! So far all we have had to do is spackle in the walls and replace their homemade doggie door with a better made doggie door. We know cattle dogs. They will chew their way through anything if they set their mind to it so DH made a doggie door for them, popping the bottom window out of the storm door, fit in a piece of plywood, cut a door out of it and then hung a 'flap' in the doorway. Of course he immediately had to reinforce the opening with 1X4s because the little darlings chewed the opening into a bigger opening. We considered buying a doggie door for them but had a second thought concerning wasting the money knowing they would chew their way through anything.

Just got home not to long ago. DH bought me a Ryobi table saw and a second fine cut blade for it. I love it! He also bought me lumber! I mean what better gift for a buildaholic wife!? There was a rep there working and he stopped to talk to us about the saw and all of its features. I love Home Depot!

From there the usual stops. Groceries, Micky D's for lunch (where I am waiting to see how my body reacts to the fresh tomato on my chicken Artisan sandwich) and finally the Salvation Army where I scored 5 stuffed animals and a bed for the pups. The local SA has a box where they put throws and blankets not nice enough to sell and mark them as dog beds. 1$ out the door.

All in all a great day!

DD I'm finally getting things in the mail tomorrow. I was hoping today as everyone I know has a birthday within the next 6 weeks. I think my SIL's birthday is today.....oops! So I have a stack waiting for the mailbox tomorrow.

2 eggs go into lockdown tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed that at least one of them hatches for poor Sweetie. That little girl has been squatting on that nest for weeks now. I'd hate to make her wait till the 23rd when the next batch is due to hatch.

How do you chill down your bunny cages....?
I make the solid ends hinged, so the ends open ( hardware cloth underneath). Lets a breeze through the cage. They get frozen water bottles to lay against and refrigerated fruit or veggies chopped to eat. And they are all in the shade.

Ron, I believe this would be the occasion for picking your nose in a very public location.

Sadly as a UC Davis Employee I am paid to be on Jury Duty and work is slow now...Today was long and boring! I should get a Cellular tablet since BYC on a phone is not my favorite thing to do. Of course we have to turn the phone off in the courtroom.

Could you imagine the newspaper article if the press caught a juror looking at pictures of chickens?
I thought about that!

There were reporters there today and they talked to two prospective jurors. This is an enhanced first degree murder with lying in wait special circumstance added.

This one is a big deal!
