The kids liked their capes, especially the girl. Thanks again for all the help. I did end up doing ties for it, but the material is really slick and unties pretty easily, when pulled (as evidenced by the kids trying to strangle each other this evening). I also was unable to skillfully put the A and E on the back of the capes, so they were just plain. No one (except Chris and myself and you guys) is the wiser.

I was perfectly content all day until DH flooded the laundry room..... may have to replace the wood floor in the adjoining rooms.......
