The Old Folks Home

Merry Christmas everyone (sorry I am a day late

) We had a nice white Christmas although yesterday was sunny. Woke up to a very sick dog (my other sheltie) and was trying to nurse him and cook all day. He finally perked up a bit in the late afternoon and today he is a little better. I have appointments for them all on Friday and hoping against hope that I won't have to put him down. I think he might have the big "C" so I probably am not going to get a reprieve for him as I have with Skip. Skip is doing OK but I think we need to increase his medication since he has been coughing more during the day again. The Sydney is doing great so we at least that was able to cheer me up a bit. Other than that, we did have a good Christmas. Hope everyone else had a great day. SCG so glad that the capes were a hit!

Ha Ha! Not really a good story, but here goes.....

DH cooked the turkey in this propane, hot air (oil-less) deep fryer, thingy on the back porch. If you don't have one, get one, best turkey ever! It has a stainless steel basket that the turkey sits in and it drops into the cooker. He brought the basket in and put it in the deep laundry sink and turned on the hot water to fill the sink and soak the basket. Then he turned the washing machine on and DS#3 asked if he could show him how to find some sheet music for the drum part to "The Little Drummer Boy" on the internet to download and print. You can imagine the rest........

We have ceramic tile in the laundry room but wood floors in the adjoining rooms.

Oh, dear.

Having flooded the kitchen more times than I care to admit when refilling the turtle tank, I know - multitasking when one task involves running water is never a good idea!

Multi-tasking. .. . . we are busy people!! Glad your husband has time to spend with son#3--that is precious. SOrry about the floors--those are replaceable as you said.

Absolutely. My freezer once flooded the kitchen (and through to the basement) when it decided it didn't want to make ice for me anymore. You'd be surprised how resilient the floors are. Get a dehumidifier and a fan on them, stat. Mine survived and are only mildly warped from it.

Welcome! I'm 50, too, and not old, but feel at home here. You probably will, too.
