The Old Folks Home

Alright Folks! We are all mortal, no need to dwell on it, SCG's Dad will be fine, now lets move on...........Y'all are depressing me!

Okay, spring is in the air, what are we seeing in our yards? Here, the daffodils (Jonquils for us old folk) are blooming and the forsythia and quince. My weeping willow has small green leaves all over it and the maples are covered with bright red buds. Easter is just around the corner and I am so ready to plant my garden. What are you seeing or planning to grow this year?

I am seeing snow, mud, dead grass, repeat. This stupid weather won't give up winter and keeps giving us a couple days to think spring before it goes right back to winter. We are supposed to be in the low to mid 60's Friday and then by Sunday back into the low to mid 30's with snow, sleet, & drizzle forcasted. THAT is depressing....

Aren't small planes the bestest thing in the world to fly in?
Memorable...that describes those toy planes.

At times, when I forget how stupid it is, I go up with a friend
in his little single-prop thing he joking calls a "plane". It's like
Charlie Brown and Lucy...he swears he'll be good...but he never
is.

And I never learn.

But I have been to Maine. Certainly some of the most beautiful
sights in the world. And some of the nicest people I've ever met.
But I've only been there in the summer. I bet they have a nasty
winter at times. And Spooks don't like cold. I'm old, the wind blows
right through me.

Cold and snowy here in Spookland today also...a most excellent day
to catch up on my naps. The downside of that, all though I'm all napped
up, I've missed several snacks today. And as I'm a happy, fat-guy, that's
a bad thing.

That's my two favorite things to do...eat and sleep. I'm good at both of
them.

Which is probably why I'm not real fond of those small planes...when I
get on and the pilot starts talking about things like "weight limits" and
"overloaded"....I know I'm the first person they'll throw out in mid-flight.

Which is why, when I do fly, I strap myself in real good.

They aren't getting me out easy.

And give your Dad a hug, and try not to worry too much. Things will
work out.

Spook...who woke up, ate his cookies and now heading for another nap
before bedtime.

My dad is extubated but he has an ng tube in still because his bowels aren't moving again yet after the surgery. But that's okay. Thank you all for the support.
I took an 8 passenger Cessna out of Maine this morning to get here. Let me just say my dads doctors should prescribe a Cessna ride for constipation.
Gunna try to get a few hours of sleep.
I agree. First you say it, then you do it.

Maybe he's resisting going because of pain. I hope things turn out well for him.

We're all growing a little older every day. It's the way it is.

My daughter has seen us taking care of our parents, and me
and her have an ongoing joke.

I tell her that when her mother and I get old, we're going to get
a big double stroller (wheelchair) and she'll have to take care of
us.

She has another plan. When we get old, she's gonna buy us a box
of depends and drop us off at the Old Folks Home some night when
we're asleep. With a note, of course.

But she isn't taking care of us...

I had my car serviced, requiring its overnight stay at the shop. Once I got home, I removed the little tag they'd placed on the set of keys. One side blank; I turned it over out of curiosity and started to laugh.

Had brunch in Amador County, at Glen & Marlene's Dead Fly Diner. If you haven't eaten there, you should. NUH-mee! Breakfast is served all day, but lunch is available, too. The menu lists several different Eggs Benedict selections in addition to the traditional version; I order a different one on each visit. This is the Twin Peaks Benedict, which has crab cakes under the eggs and Hollandaise sauce. (Mary, please notice the "vertical" shots.) :lau

Pictures of last month's snow. First photo is the view of my property from the road. Second photo is Elvis (call duck drake) and his Cayuga "wife" Bodacia.

Next, some of the deck and side yard, and the driveway with the main coop at the end.

View of the front yard with snow-covered road access to Mt. Aukum Road.

Evidence of activity in the snow.

Then, for hilarity's sake, two photos of Sarge the MW Tom attempting to get it on with Edna, a willing BBB hen.

.

No, that is not the same picture duplicated - that's two separate moments within the interlude. For those who wanna know more: Sarge fell off before connecting.

Spook you sound like me - I eat I sleep therefore I am

Bad part is sleeping feels so good, I sometimes miss breakfast & lunch and end up eating dinner at 9 pm, midnight and again between 3 & 4 am. Then I'm so sleepy, same thing happens the next day.

gryeyes, I love your vertical shots - did you take lessions or did it come natch-rel to ya? Your tom turkey is hysterical, and that hussy of a chicken too.

This is my first hatch so I have a question. On my last candle 2 eggs(lg banty) had a little room left, 1(med) had no room (totally dark except air pocket) and that seemed normal to me but the largest egg(XL) had almost a third of its space left. Is that OK/normal or is it just slow developing?
