For next time...I just candled my eggs and I saw one that looked like I saw a chick in it. The rest of them I do not know because they are to dark to see. So Wed is the hatch day! Come on babies!!!!!

What should you do? First, Breathe. You can add sponges, that are wet. Or lay down wet paper towels, all depends on the model and where you can fit these things. I hve an LG and can get it up to 80% with 4 babyfood jars with a narrow strip of sponge poking well out of the top of the full jar. You have time. Thanks SCG! Thanks for the pics they did help! So did the ones Ron put on! I am just so nervous and excited! I put a 1/4 of water in the bator and had to go to bed. But at 1 am I was up checking the humidity level. It was still at 35% so I added more water. And this morning it is still not at 50%. So what should I do? HELP!!!
I often have chicks zip and hatch in my incubator which is at 40%; they sometimes need more humidity if they are slow to complete the zip and get dried. OOps. I just open the cap if need be. THen let chick finish pushing itself out. Seems to help with leg strength and coordination.
Breathe.
Thanks Arielle! I will add a sponge and see if that helps!x2

Prayers sent your way bunny! I don't watch tv so I hear about everything that is really bad from everyone else.I'm going to check out some of the recipes for non gluten and non dairy foods. I have been eating a lot of fruits, nuts and berries since I have been on this diet. I feel like a squirrel or a rabbit (Bunny). I have always eaten plenty of dairy and wheat products, but I have been having severe headaches for years now. I will be happy to give wheat and dairy the boot if I can rid myself of them. I don't miss the dairy as much as I miss Krispy Creme doughnuts, cookies and cake. I love, love, love baked goods! My husband found me some gluten free pancake mix today and I think I will try them for breakfast tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up on where to find some good recipes!![]()
Keep NC in your prayers!
I think we are getting another storm in this area. There is a lot of flooding in the surrounding counties. Catawba county is just about 45 minutes from here and they had 8 to 10 inches of rain that fell last night in a 12 hour period. Lincoln county also got a tremendous amount of rain. We had about 3-4 inches here last night. Our farm is located on high ground, thank goodness! The rains we have been getting all summer are unreal!

I'M IN LOVE WITH YOUR PIGEON! I thought all pigeons were black and white and gray and lived in Boston under the overpasses just waiting to drop a surprise on your head. Guess I was wrong. Are they hard to care for? I would like some if they are not like quail and die over nothing! Thanks so much everyone for the positive thoughts! SCG, I hope that this weather front dries up and stays away from you in Maine! I am so sick of all this rain. We are more used to droughts than floods. I have never seen anything like this in NC. I have lived in the state since 1967 and this is the worst flooding ever. I live in an area that is just about in the middle of the state. We live in an elevated area, but we are fairly close to the foothills where a lot of the flooding occurs. My Dad lives in the McDowell County area, which is in the mountains. He is near lake James, but he lives up on a hill that is solid rock! Many of the counties have lost roads and bridges and there were at least 18 swift water rescues and there are shelters being opened in many counties. Many people are trapped because they have lost access to roads that leave their neighborhood. I feel blessed to live where we do. I think we are pretty safe here.
Arielle, you could say I have an Ark of sorts! I have 26 rabbits in the barn, 200 or so chickens of various ages, a horse, 3 dogs, and one silly pigeon. All I need to do is put some giant floats on the house and barn and we are good to go. We have at least 2 of every animal! Except the pigeon! She had a mate, but he flew away a few weeks ago. She thinks she is a chicken and she hangs out with the Faverolles. That is a funny site!
I know that I would love some of that pecan syrup Chickadoodles, Pecans are my favorite.
I cannot believe how many people are on a gluten free diet! It is crazy that we have so many people with gluten sensitivity.
I would have never thought that was the reason for my headaches. Thanks everyone for sharing such great info on recipes. I am getting tired of trail mix!![]()
Thanks Arielle for the link, I will certainly be taking a look at that!
This is a photo of my silly Pigeon!

Darn I almost forget! Finally after over a year of trying, I finally hatched out a Silkied AM! I'm so excited. If I ever figure out how to get these darn videos off of my phone, I'll have enough memory to take some pics.
WELCOME!!!That is not just happening to me huh. I am experiencing that on another thread...every time I post a question....nobody replies. I don't understand it really.
You will not have that problem here! You are welcomed with open arms
and if you happen to get lost in some of the tumbling conversation, pick out one of the regulars and
We will all join you in laughing! We try not to take ourselves too seriously here......![]()
Yeah, real subtle, Oz.....

If I may "Chirp" in on Chicka's syrup......deeeelish!!!!![]()
DH and I purchased a pint of her hickory syrup,,,,OMG, slap yourself silly, so good! Smooth, clean, taste, not to thick or thin and just a hint of hickory on the palet, beautiful amber color.
We are using it on biscuits, waffles, going to use it on blackened red snapper and baked salmon. Told her I want to try the hickory and pecan syrups drizzled on ice cream and cheese cake too!![]()
Chirp.
I am praying for your brother chirp.Pretty good. Sold a roo and 3 hens yesterday!!
Brother still on vent, having issues with BP and bleediing? Still need prayers love, thanks, Verna.
had 18 guinea eggs in the bator.....NONE HATCHED. I guess I have as much luck with an incubator as I do with quail. NONE!!As soon as it gets dark enough I will be candling my first hatching eggs for the last time before they go into lockdown! I am nervous but so excited! Wish me luck!!!!
My garden started out rough because the stupid squirrels dug up the seeds I planted (from Baker Creek, mind you!!) 4 times or more...I lost track. We got a decent amount of early rain, which I thought was great, but the soft soil made it that much easier for them to go to town on my seeds...at least if it hard-baked it would slow down the tree-rats.
I started using clever defenses like piled rocks, but by then the flipping heat set in and the rocks became stone solar ovens, and so I ended up with 2 squash and 5 tomatoes. The tomatoes are starting to produce, but the neighbors' trees are finally cutting off the last of my deep sun and so the plants are lanky. The squash refuse to blossom anything but male flowers. I did get an eggplant, but it was just one the size of my thumb. I'm disgruntled.
I'm finally getting my head together about losing all of my birds. I'm overwhelmed by requests and haven't any idea how to value unique birds. I mean, how do I know what a flock of 2nd gen Chocolate d'Uccles ought to go for? No one has them. I made them. I don't want to be greedy, but I don't want to minimize the YEARS put into this from acquiring the gene, driving on of the first 2 chocolate birds in the country home, learning another language to speak to an imported bird....
What is all my time worth!?!?!?
Oh, the HUMANITY!!!!!!!!
Just kidding...Im not really that traumatized, but it's close. I really am stumped. And sad I can't see these projects to fruition.
And now we're having funky weather and it's about to storm with flood warnings, yet my neighbor is outside making dust-storms as he mows. It looks like PigPen from Peanuts is running laps in the neighbor's yard.
I had better start rounding up chicks before it hits!
Aww poor thing! Thanks guys for the prayers...brother is 2 years post liver transplant, got Hep C from blood transfusion when he was 10. Hep C treated, blew out liver, hence transplant. Now spleen had to be removed. Still in ICU on the vent, issues with BP/bleeding from having to remove so much scar tissue from previous liver transplant surgery. They nicked his intestine and pancreatic tail, trying to stop bleeding and get him off the vent. Prayers needed and greatly appreciated. With deepest thanks, Chirp!
Hugs to your ((MOM))I have really got to stop going places on the weekend if I want to keep up with ya'll.![]()

Ok now that I am caught up: Lost another Bantam to the mystery animal. But my husband did "rid" ourselves of the chicken killing cat. We might have got rid of our problem. We still have the family of foxes hanging out. Mom was running a fever all weekend but it finally broke. We think it was because of the chemo shot.
