The Old Folks Home

Y'all I am so sorry! I just called our Post Office here in Uniontown, AL and they were robbed and that is why they were not open yesterday. I called them and they said they could not open today either because of all the finger print dust in their key board it would not work! He said he is suppose to be getting one in the morning! So hopefully they can open tomorrow! I will get the syrup out as soon as the Post Office can open again!

It seems a bit weird to think about small-town Post Offices getting robbed, but it happens (was actually my first thought when you mentioned that they were closed during normal business hours). Though I never would have thought that dusting the keyboard for prints would render it inoperable!

You know you put kidding just so we won't point fingers when some unknown woman is trying to take over the world.

I am not unknown! I am SCG!

I am horrified!!!! Went out to the chicken coop and pen to feed them and BAM there was a 3 ft long RAT!!!!!!!!

I laughed so hard as SCG and her rat killing techniques that I now have them!! I cursed my self.

Put a saddle on it and ride it to work.

The only SCG-approved method right now is a gun.

I saw a couple of Rats On Saturday so I am now trying the soda in a pie pan method. I did not see any indication of them last night but will continue putting out soda for a while.

Get those rats!

I am so sorry. I never should have mentioned rats. Now they're multiplying. Maybe the flock I had that packed up didn't go to the neighbors. Maybe they went to you guys?

Wow I wouldn't rob a post office. That's a federal offense.

I also haven't supplied you with my address, yet. I'm shocked that I'm not on your syrup distribution list

Too bad I am a stay at home mom or I would ride it. I wonder if my kids will take this in exchange for not getting a horse.

I can not believe some one would rob a bank!?! Especially a small town one.

If you rode it somewhere you technically wouldn't be a stay at home mom...

True true! Anything would be better then nothing which is my current situation. I havent had a car in over 6 months. Just dropped 4,000 on a Saab and the motor blew a month later. Only vehicle we have is my husbands company truck and you can't exactly take that where ever you want.

So last night I went to give my chickens some left over corn on the cob and there was a little rice on the plate. well as I am sitting there giving them the corn cobs my husband walks up and notices the rice. Immedietely stated that chickens can not have rice and that is why they don't throw it at weddings any more. Is this true? Did I hurt my little chickens?

Wisher, not sure about CA but most of the western states (AZ and UT I know for sure) it is the property owner's responsibility to get the power lines to the property if they aren't already there. It is tremendously expensive. I could have bought 20 acres of property when we were looking for property up here for a pittance compared to what I paid for the three acres we wound up buying. No water (put in well for about $10K plus the cost of the pump), no sewer (no biggie there, septic is not too expensive), dirt road (not in great shape, more expenses to get it improved) and no electricity to the property. That was really the killer on that property. I forget how much it was but it was STUPID expensive to get electricity on the property. Yes it is true that they aren't making more land but sometimes even "cheap" is too much to pay.

EEK. I was mostly joking about the rodent, but maybe it was a gift.

Uncooked rice may swell or block the crop. Mine have eaten both cooked and uncooked and no one has died. Mine have also eaten styrofoam and not died. You're fine. They're fine.

Not to mention the cost of putting in internet. That's expensive. Around here the internet is spotty. My house has DSL and cable internet, the house behind mine on the main road (I'm on a dead end dirt road) has dial up only.
