The Old Folks Home

I was implying the round trip
it just so happens my trait for stating the obvious is well known amongst my friends. ;) I'm really good at it. I simply cannot resist. It's a compulsion, not a one-uppance. I have tried to sublimate it without success. I wish I demonstrated a more winsome attribute. The next behavior trait of note is an uncanny ability to be exactly where it it most difficult to maneuver around me. I make an excellent barrier. Even when this is discovered, it is more likely for me to move directly into another person"s chosen diversionary path than to step out of the way. It's a gift. Hey, I found out from whence Kevin came! Sunday nights are "Trivia" game nights at The Pub; this evening I went there for my first Sunday. I wanted to observe before participating... But it was slow in the Pub and the owner didn't get it going. Four young men had also come to play... So they sat at a table and utilized their Smart Phones to play Trivia apps! But that was after I found out about Kevin. They invited me to play with them. I killed 'em in the Classic Rock category. Hmm. Couple of "KiltLifters" on board, so this may take a bit of text. One of the original two real estate gals who sold me my current home, but whom has now retired, showed up with her husband. Hey Howdies all around. Somebody down the bar asked a question; yes, I am indeed the person who created The Great Chicken War of Somerset a couple of years ago. "Hey, cool! I used to read about it in the El Dorado Exchange (Huh???????) and laugh at the people who live in the country but don't like to hear roosters! I keep a few chickens and used to have a couple of peacocks, but one was killed and the other one disappeared about three months ago. We figure something got him too." I had to ask: Where do you live? The first house on Outingdale Road from Mt. Aukum Rd. (I live on Old Outingdale, less than half a mile away.) "Umm, I think I have your peacock...." So, it turns out the chickens and peacocks were his former house-mates' but they moved away and left this guy to care for them, telling him "They're free range now, don't worry, just give 'em layer feed and water.". He is actually relieved Harold has a great home! Yes, Kevin used to be called Harold. :gig :lau

Pretty cool that you found his previous owner and are still getting to keep Kevin!

Oh Linda, I'm so happy you now have Kevin's history and the adoption is complete.
( HE will never be Harold to me . . . he is KEvin. )

I do not believe Kevin's former owners carried on many conversations with him, so he probably never knew they named him Harold. (Their other peacock was named "Kamar."). Kevin seems to recognize his name, but I use their names when talking to all of my poultry in hopes they learn to associate that particular bit as their own personal "I mean YOU, sweetie" call. He always "brrk"s in response now.

In other news, the well test came in at 6 gpm, so we're good to go! :weee
