I hope you can figure out how to upload the photos. Tell me more about your generator method. Why do you have 2?

The generators are rated in Watts. You multiply the voltage times the current to get watts. So, if you want to know how many watts is required for your well pump. Look at the circuit breaker for the rating. Well pumps are 220 Volts. You will see 2 breakers linked together for 220 circuits. If the breakers are 30 Amps multiply 220 X 30 =6,600 Watts. So you would need a 7,000 watt generator to run the well pump. A circuit like a freezer is usually 15 Amps it could be 20. Multiply 15 amps X 110 volts = 1,650 watts your large appliances will take 1,650 watts each. You can manage the load by manually tripping and resetting the breakers or you can add the watts together for the total watts required.

We have just afew basics set up to run on a generator: well, refrig, and 1-2 outlets. We only run the generator periodically, usually 1-2 times a day. Even the chest freezers hold up well . Cooking is done on the camping stove ontop of the grain barrels; and I learned while living in Maine to have a wood stove to keep the house warm in all circumstances and to cook on as necessary. Kids love soups!

Oooow! I tried to read that before finishing my first cup of coffee and made my head hurt! . Totally lost me on tripping breakers. Our generators have two outlets . We plug in heavy gauge cords into them and whatever we need to run into the other end. (Of course paying attention to our max output).

Don't know about southern "spring" but we have serious mud season up here!!! . Fortunately for us, we are mostly sand where the home and driveway are located. The girls run is getting pretty "loamy" though .

Oz you have to stop posting how nice it is where you are!

We are getting more snow today (yes, I said that four letter word!

) but it doesn't look like we will get as much as we did the other day. I have a nice pot of minestrone going now and will make some bread in a bit. Ought to be a nice warm dinner for a cold snowy day.
