Happy Winter Solstice!

HUMP DAY FOR DAYLIGHT, YEA!!!!

Oz the only thing that would make that cuter is to have the kids and the pigs in the same picture.

I have finally finished the quilt that my sister dragged me into making online with my niece (we shared fabric to make the same quilt). My sister didn't help me too much (her schedule is completely the opposite of mine) and she ended up mostly making my niece's quilt for her (my niece did help pin some stuff and cut some stuff) so even though my niece's looks so much better, I consider myself having won for not cheating.

I absolutely abhor the fabric (with the exception of the cute little birds on a wire), and the entire experience wasn't quite describable as nirvana, but it is DONE.

Now, I get to gift it next week to a little girl, who can repay me by expulsing bodily fluids onto it. (Have I mentioned how much I hate this quilt and how much I can't wait for the little girl to abuse it like it has abused me for the past 10 weeks?)

DONE! DONE! (And I just bought fabric to do another quilt... my choice of fabric this time. I must be crazy to be trying this again).

THIS IS THE GREENHOUSE, BREEZEWAY, COOP SETUP. THERE IS A POPHOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE GREENHOUSE WHICH LETS THE GIRLS GO FROM THE COOP TO THERE WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE SNOW. THIS IS THE FRONT OF THE COOP, OF COURSE. IF YOU EXPAND THE PIC YOU CAN SEE A COUPLE OF THE GIRLS IN THE BREEZEWAY. (THERE IS PLASTIC ON ALL SIDES, INCLUDING THE GATE, TO BLOCK AND WIND OR BLOWING SNOW.) HERE IS MAX AND ONE OF THE LADIES HANGING OUT IN THE GREENHOUSE. THIS IS THE VIEW OUT MY KITCHEN WINDOW. OUR FIELD IS TO THE EAST AND NORTH AND DROPS DOWN IN OUR WOODS WHICH BORDERS THOUSANDS OF ACRES OF STATE AND FEDERAL LAND. THAT IS WHY "'FREE RANGING' IS OUT OF THE QUESTION FOR MY GIRLS EXCEPT OUT INTO THE MAIN GARDEN AREA (IN FRONT) AND ANOTHER GATED AND FENCED AREA TO THE SOUTH THAT LETS THEM GET UNDER THE APPLE TREES.
Wow, very nice!
ThAnk you. I come up with these great ideas and poor hubby gets to figure out how to do it. I just had a hunch this might be a rough winter and was looking to make things easier than last year (and as we get older). First We spun the greenhouse 90o (the door originally faced south. That's the way it was sitting when the coop was added two years ago) which made it a lot easier for me to keep path cleared thru the snow for the chooks and allowed the sun to hit it broadside which added a great advantage for solar heating with our low hanging winter Sun. Then I got the bright idea to put the clear panel roof between the two so the chooks would have a snow free area. At least I figured out how to do the pophole in the greenhouse all by myself :D
