The Old Folks Home

Dear Santa,

Please send some of your elves

to tidy my house and make my cookies.

I did your job and got the presents, I think you owe me.

Sincerely,

Wisher
PS

Bring each and every one of my buddies on TOFH something special, 'cause they are wonderful people, and they deserve it.  Me?  I've got all I need and nearly everything I want, I'm good.  Thanks anyway.

MERRY CHRISTMAS :love

Merry Christmas everyone. We just finished up here. The kids are running around like they've had to much coffee, squealing and such.So much for a quiet day of relaxing, oh well. Lots of fun though. Santa brought me an auto chicken door.I hope you all have a great day.

Nice sentiment, Wisher.

After Mother Nature dropped an inch of ice on my area over the course of 3 days, Santa brought me my power back today (although he waited and waited and waited) -- for the second time this week -- and we celebrated by going out to Asian Cafe, the only place within 30 miles that is open that isn't a gas station so we could get some warm food for our bellies while the house heated up after going almost 48 hours without electricity in very low temperatures (although nothing like Alaska, we were only -5 this morning). Our pipes didn't freeze (thanks to an awful lot of hard work keeping the two wood stoves lit) but if I never have to sleep in my winter coat, hat and gloves again under 8 blankets and 2 cats again while waking up at minimum every 90 minutes to check and refuel the two wood stoves, I will be thankful. We still don't have internet (that cable was ripped out of our house) but I have HEAT and LIGHTS and a phone that can create a hotspot so life's good.

Santa did also get me a new sewing machine, for hopefully more handmade gifts from the heart. I still have a few to finish up for Christmas that didn't get finished before The Great Maine Power Outages of Ice Storm 2013... everyone should understand. This is a picture of my road from a few days ago - after it snowed on it and then got sanded. You can't see it here but there's a bunch of snapped internet and power cables, too.

Hope the rest of you had a warm and safe holiday (if you celebrate).

That is great news! I did read a news article that said power was being restored in Maine.

Thank you Wisher for your Chrismas wish for us!

One of my chickens granted a wish for me, a first egg!

She was clucking and looking for a good place to lay an egg, so she settled in under the BBQ

Later I found her first egg, in front of the BBQ

She is a Pinta Pinta(Asturian Paint)
