The Old Folks Home

HAaahaaa, When I did the scheduling for some 50 people ( 100 in the busy season) definitely scheduled to cover "sickness" espeically the Monday morning hang overs!! ANd THAT was the busiest day of the week. I always scheduled an extra person.

Obviously you keep records . . can you find a solution other than you covering??

My solution was, "I'm at home, figure it out." I so rarely get leave so leave me alone. I usually have to donate leave each year so that I don't lose it. This year we're looking like we're fully staffed for the most part, so I'll be able to take more of it.

It takes a lot of evidence to prove sick leave abuse. I almost had one girl for it, and then she saw the writing on the wall and stopped doing it. Success!

But more importantly, the one girl saw the writing on the wall and straightened out her act. THat is success.

How does donating benefit you-- don't you loose it?? Or is someone kind enough to donate it back??

When my company changed benefit plans and I could no longer accrue more than 30 days of sick time, anything more, and I lost it, I wisened up and was sick occassionally. NEver on a monday though-- all my reporst would get messed up!! I rarely took time off and always had months of vaca time on the books.

I accrue sick leave with no limits. When I retire, The sick Leave adds to years of service. I have a limit on Vacation hours I can earn.

Currently I have 5 months of sick leave and want to have 6 months when I retire.

Gotta love a real Pension too. Not too many of those left.

We had quite a few eye problems reported for sick leave. When asked what the problem was they usually said I just couldn't see coming to work.
