The Old Folks Home

Decided against the Dane. :( So many reasons I could see once we had her here for a while. That dog is big now, but oh man, where will she fit when she gets bigger. I'm thinking my big Golden is enough of a big dog to have around, and then the other two. Three dogs are plenty. Sure loved having that sweetheart around for a day though. Such a sweetheart, and willing to learn. I had her sitting when I stopped while walking her on a leash, when I stopped. Now that was fast! Only took a few times for her to know what I wanted, and she was willing to please. Showed the gal when I took her back, and she couldn't believe it. I told her, that she is one of the quickest I've had to do as I asked in a long while. She hadn't been on a leash before either. You may be thinking, sounds like an easy dog to keep around, again, if she was smaller, maybe. :)

A day in the life of Wisher -

My DH has been wanting some salmon patties for a couple of weeks. He brought home canned salmon, and Panko, and put them in the pantry. I decided to make them tonight but soon realized that I didn't have any onions. I called my closest (this side of the road) neighbor, a recent widow, to see if she had an onion I could borrow. She said she did and I thankfully told her I would send my youngest to her house on our Ranger. It is only about a quarter of a mile, counting both of our long driveways, from our garage to her front door. I selected a beautiful rainbow of fresh eggs and arranged them in a carton to send to her in exchange. DS#3 came back shortly, and I asked how she liked the eggs. He said 'fine' and went back to his game. Shortly, I was ready to dice the onion and couldn't find it. I asked where my onion was. DS#3 said he didn't know. "Wha'? Where is the onion, SON?' "They didn't give it to me." "Well, go back and get it, I need it, that was the whole purpose in you going!"

He didn't want to go, he was embarrassed, but I assured him that all he had to do is say "I forgot the onion" and she would give it to him. In a bit, he was back with the onions, two onions! Which is what I actually needed (for tomorrow's meatloaf) but didn't want to ask. I asked what she said and he replied, "He just said, 'Oh, you need some onions?' and gave them to me." HE? I had a fleeting thought of a new boyfriend, but then was just confused.

DS#3 said, "Wait. Where was I supposed to take them?"

Mrs Oz is currently watching a Barong Dance in Bali. A Filipina college friend of hers flew in last night from Oz so they are doing a tourist day.

Gosh I love languages...

Filipinos always have a nick name. Her friend's is klengkleng - it means bull$h** in Balinese.

Quote: I have heard that you need to be careful when you retire to make sure you do not try to fill in with too many things to do.

Litter Life does sound the same. It is from Southland Organics. I tried to order a small bottle to see how it worked but their order system did not calculate shipping. I tried to push the order through but it stalled. I ordered a bigger bottle from Amazon(A Quart) and it was really Southland Organics through Amazon. Southland figured out what had happened and as a way of apologizing they sent me a 2.5 Gallon container of Litter Life. I have enough now to use it weekly for several years!
In my case, after I was suddenly retired without advance notice I might add. All I tried to do was get all of the 'To-Do-when-I-have-time' list done. I am still working on last years list
