Hello everyone! I was invited over by my new friend, Wisher1000, and I'm so new to chickens, that I don't even have them yet, lol! I'm getting a dozen baby chicks in a couple of weeks from Wisher, I can't wait! I'm from McCalla Alabama, outside of Birmingham, out in the woods. My boyfriend and I, well mostly him, built a pretty nice chick brooder this weekend and now I'm ready to go! I'm quite excited :-D

Oh, I'm jealous. I live too far away to visit Wisher...

Cynthia - what a great story, so glad your family was there for your neighbor. As an FYI, one can absorb glucose through the cheeks (the oral cheeks as a clarification). If you can't find glucose gel, you can use something like cake icing if you have it already made. Just don't use so much that they could choke. You did amazing, and I hope you heal quickly as karma.

My hay delivery guy was supposed to be here 90 minutes ago. He's a volunteer fireman in our town, and whenever he's late it means something bad happened to someone or something in town.

Well, if I had any free time maybe not...but I am starting a new job on Monday the 10th which means I go back to square one in the personal leave department and my new company does not offer a 9/80 schedule where I get every other Friday off like my present job does. Add to that my new boss has already warned me that our first few months are going to be busy busy busy and I should plan on more than my fair share of OT...of course, I'm salaried so that will be unpaid OT.

I sound like I'm complaining but I'm really excited for this opportunity since I've felt sort of stagnant in my present job...I just won't have as much time to spend doing chicken things like road trips to visit you Wisher.
