Oh that is the truth Ron. This has been such a crazy year. I can't wait for summer, I am taking it off before finding a job.

Welcome. Tell us about your brooder. How many are you getting?
They grow up fast so be ready.
Thank you! I'll show you a picture! We're pretty proud of it! My boyfriend did all the planning and measuring and cutting, I drilled holes and I did cut out the octagonal shapes in the lid with a jigsaw!
The best part is that the whole frame of 2x4s was free! Reclaimed wood from pallets or scrap wood from around the house! The plywood sides and bottom, the hardboard top, the screening and the screws were all I had to buy! the only silicone we had was white, but it was free so I'm not complaining! I'll just have to cover the front of the plexiglass with paintings or fabric there on the sides where the white silicone shows. There's a small door on the side that opens and removes for when they are big enough to put the whole thing in the coop, a roost in the back, and a removable screened top to keep out my kitty
I'm getting 6 Easter Eggers and 6 Black Orpingtons after they hatch in about a week, from Ms. Wisher 1000. I'm really excited!!! This will not be the last chickens I buy from her![]()
A friend of mine in WI has nice Chanteclers. She has white and partridge.canukBock - I love the golden Chanteclers! Can only find the white ones down here and then they're hatchery stock. From what I've read yours are much calmer and friendlier. Am I right?

Good idea. You won't get a break for a while with a new job.Oh that is the truth Ron. This has been such a crazy year. I can't wait for summer, I am taking it off before finding a job.
The Brooder is very nice!
Two suggestions:
Line the bottom with linoleum. Home Depot sells small rolls
Add a vent neat the bottom of one side. Ammonia can build up if there is not enough ventilation.
Oh thank you! I am going to paint the bottom with a high gloss, low voc Outdoor paint to seal it and Wisher recommended I still line the bottom with plastic, so I was going to use trash bags or the equivalent. The vent idea is a good one though! You think the two opening won't be enough then? I welcome any and all advice! The Brooder is very nice!

Thank you! Wisher suggested a door and my BF did an excellent job of it I thought! Ok we will add a vent!A friend of mine in WI has nice Chanteclers. She has white and partridge.
Looks nice. I like the door so they can explore and go back in at night.

Ventilation is their biggest need IMO
