The Old Folks Home

I notice that Wilmington didn't make that list; the person compiling it clearly hadn't been in my yard during the summer. "Most likely to be bitten by a mosquito within 20 seconds of stepping outside," or maybe, "highest number of mosquito bites in a 5-minute period" are lists that I think we'd be contenders for.

Out of Shreveport too. I'm light skinned and look like I have the plague. I saw my daughter the other day and she said, "My God, what has happened to your legs?"

Quote: One year I had a dwarf peach tree that was loaded. I tasted one and it was wonderful. I decided that I would pick them all the next day. When I went out the following morning, they were all gone.

We picked one and tasted it and it was ripe and delishious so we picked some. But then a chicken customer showed up so we had to stop. Now it will likely be next weekend so I hope we will still have some. :)

Here our critters will attack the pears and then we won't hardly get any. Between the birds, squirrels and the bees it is hard to get any not to mention we already had to feed the cows a bushel of ruined pears from critter damage. I would rather pick them early and let them ripen up for a week in my den then can them than let all the critters eat and damage them all.

Pears are one fruit that are supposed to benefit from being picked early and allowed to ripen inside.
