Teila, love the garden, oh my, would I love to have that kind of color of wild birds come show up in my yard. We deal with the sparrows here. And finches, the finches do not bother to feed or drink from our chickens food and water. But those sparrows!

We do have doves that someone brought along..who knows from where all of a sudden. Big doves. Cute at first, but now they are everywhere, grew to a very large number the last couple of years. They will land in our trees and fences, haven't seen them eat the chicken feed though. Thank goodness.

Bunny... I have a very soft spot for Mike Rowe. I don't blame you one bit for watching him. I love his chick sexing episode the best, but most of his animal related ones are fabulous, too.

I admit I've never watched shark week, but I don't watch TV and have never had cable. If I want to watch something (like the wonderful Mike Rowe) I'll stream it on my computer. I do find not watching TV causes me to be woefully behind on popular culture, which I'm quite satisfied about. I'm still not sure what twerking is, but I'm thankful I don't know. I was horrified when I found out what a Snooki and a Kardashian was. I am a news junkie so I at least know what's going on with the world.

I am going to attempt to get into the beehive today and *hopefully* be able to steal some honey. This time last year I went in and found that the hive was in a dearth and had eaten all the "excess" honey and I had to start feeding them, again. I was disappointed, but the honey is their food, after all. All I'm hoping for is a jelly jar of honey.

SCG, no t.v....good for you. And I also don't know what tweeting is. I hear about it. Texting I know..but we don't do that. Drives me nuts when the kids are around and texting. Man, people are living on those things. I honestly don't think they know who is sitting next to them half the time while they are supposedly talking to them..oh wait..they are texting them! :/

hatch-a-holics don't have a season! If it's not too hot there, someone has to have chicks?

It's too hot here to get eggs that'll hatch. They are almost soft boiled by the time you pick them up every morning.

It's 15:53, or 3:53 pm, on Sunday here at the moment, GMT +2:00 normally, but since we're in summer time at the moment, it's GMT +3:00.

I think Viiru usually goes in to lay an egg with Veera, but this is really our first broody experience, and unwanted at that, so I don't know if I would call it sharing. We don't leave any eggs for her to sit on, in stead she has some ice packs under the nest to try to cool her down. So far it's not working. I wonder if I should get some ceramic eggs and freeze them instead.

Oh, why do people on this forum say "of an evening" and not "every evening"?

It doesn't even make sense? I've never seen it anywhere else but here on BYC.

It's too hot here to get eggs that'll hatch. They are almost soft boiled by the time you pick them up every morning.

And I was complaining that it was going to hit 80 here today! I find the best time to hatch is the middle of winter (Januaryish). Not much else (besides shoveling snow) is going on so I have plenty of time to handle the chicks and get them friendly, and then they're big enough to be POL when spring starts.
