The Old Folks Home

I would not treat. All chickens will have a dose of cocci eventually but become immune. The thing that may have been an issue and you couldn't control is wet bedding. It can create a nearly immediate issue. The way to control coccidiosis is to keep bedding bone dry and feeders at least half full so the chicks aren't eating in the feces. They'll get a light dose to help develop immunity.

I could easily be a tour guide for the Missouri Botanical Garden and I have for out of town visitors. Henry Shaw, an Englishman, was learning the lumber industry that made his father wealthy to follow the family business. He first studied the forests of Canada and then followed a shipment of logs down the Mississippi. On a stop in St. Louis he became enamored but continued down to New Orleans where lumber was boarded on ships to Europe. While in New Orleans, he learned that an uncle died and left him $500. He decided not to go into lumber and return to St. Louis and start a business. He spent his $500 ordering a shipment of English hardware and china. He sold the fine china to wealthy locals and the hardware (traps and axes, etc.) to the trappers in trade for hides. He quickly became wealthy. When he bought several plats of real estate, one was on the landing where he established his business and a rural property where a couple of the parks are now located including the Botanical Garden. He had visited Kew Gardens in London as a young man and it made quite the impression on him and he wanted to duplicate it here. He had a city home on the riverfront and a country home - The Tower Grove House which had the latest amenities.

I believe it had the first flush toilet in the area, The basement kitchen had a wonderful herb garden out the back door.

The kitchen appliances were advanced for the time.

I need to brag about my kids a bit because I both miss them and am excited to hug and smell them next week

On our adoption crusade, Mrs Oz is on her way to Manila on an airbus A320 as i type.

Back in April we were given the decision with finality from the courts approving the adoptions. That sounds pretty final right.

So the documents given to us by the court failed to change the childrens original names to the names given by us. Then the documents came back with incorrect spelling of my last name - they spanishized and Italian name. Four months later we are told everything is complete.

Today Mrs Oz will submit to the original local civic registries the documents for the amendment of birth certificates. Best guess is 10 weeks before we can then go to the National Statistics office and apply for copies of their birth certificates. It will then be a month to get them Filipino Passports and aprox 6 months to get them US green cards.

With a bit of luck, Antonia will start Kindergrten school in the USA this time next year.

The kids go to an amazing pre-school in the Phils. It is based on Singapore programs and Chinese language as part of the lesson

Toni just completed her mid terms and did really well. She is not a genius but is very good at applying herself in review and scores in the top few in her class. At 4 she does ballet twice a week and swimming lessons. She completed 25 yards of backstoke - ent to end of the pool this past weekend.

Lorenzo is three weeks shy of his 3rd birthday. His ability to pick up knowlege from his surroundings is amazing. A few weeks ago as I was quizzing him he told me not to worry because he gets it. As toddlers they too have mid term exams (something I have mixed feelings about). He scored 100% across the board. Yesterday he corrected his mom over right and left. He both scares me land challenges me to find subjects that interest him

I think he is almost ready to start small engine mechanics. Seriously.....

Yeah, they're pretty well known here. They have a office in the same building my hairdresser friend has set up her shop, they're usually out for a smoke when I go to get my hair cut. I'm not that much of a fan of their work though.
i love the dudesons. They are crazy as can be

Oz your children sound positively wonderful! Word to you from experience, find out what he likes to do and keep him busy. An idle intelligent toddler spends their day trolling for trouble. Been there, done that.

Oz I hope your troubles are over soon. How do the kids feel about coming to America?

I am having some honey, local wild blackberries and yogurt. Sooooooooo good. Now I just need my goat to lactate and I could produce the whole meal.

thanks for the advice.

we keep him busy. he has a good attention span once you have his attention so he is quite manageable.

Enzo is awake by 5 and will play with his cars on his own for an hour. Toni is forced out of bed at 6.

The school day is 730AM to 1030AM

After school they normally play with blocks until lunch time.

Both kids ride their tricycles for atleast an hour each day. They have a two hour nap from 2-4 after a bath.

Their tv time is normally the WII with lets dance. Theys find something to expend their enegy on,

They have another bath and review school after dinner. Once Lorenzo is tired their is no stopping him - he will fall asleep with food in his mouth at the table if he is eating when his brain flicks the off switch.

9pm is ultimate lights out if they have not fallen to sleep watching part of a movie on their tablets.

the kids are very excited about coming to the USA

I have home made jams - Mango Pineapple and Jackfruit I made last trip that I am willing to barter - they are all food but the jackfruit is really good

I just read an NPR "scoop" on jackfruit and I have to say I'm slightly intrigued. Is it as "stinky" as they say?
jackfruit is not stinky but durian is obnoxious. they can look similar as with marang and breadfruit.

Durian is banned as carry on luggage and also in most hotels.

we bought some last time i was home and took 2 days to get the stink out of the car.

i was going to make jam from it but it was so delicious we ate it. once you get past the smell its paradise
