The Old Folks Home

My chicken's habits are very entertaining to me. At night I'm always chasing (encouraging?) the same few birds to GO TO BED! NOW! I MEAN IT! And there's others that are on the roost with an hour to spare, happy to be in bed early. The adage is true with them - early to bed, early to rise. I've taught the entire flock to be compliant with going to bed when I start clapping (ducks, too), but these birds continually defy nature on a nightly basis and require me to come out clapping every single night to GO TO BED! NOW! I MEAN IT!

I also have one cornish that no matter what always goes to bed in a cedar tree on the property line. I have to encourage her out of that tree every single night. Except during winter. Then she is more than happy to sleep in the warm coop. I told her tonight that she wasn't cute or sweet and that I should just let her sleep in the darned tree and get eaten by a fisher, but then she flew out of the tree with her psycho squawking and then did a little squat dance for me. I admit it. It was cute. She gets to live another night.

Silly birds.

Just curious, had you turned your back to her when she started squawking and flying down?

BTW a pregancy thats termed means an abortion - I know you did not mean that.
Oh, come on, Oz. I would think even a person whose brain is clouded with Medicalspeak would know that the verb "term" means "to give a descriptive name to; call by a specified name." (synonyms: call, label, title, style, designate, dub, brand, tag, denominate) and has meant that for a whole lot longer than it may have been an abbreviation for a very specialized use of the word "terminate."

I really was not trying to upset you.

Terming a pregnancy or a pregnancy termed means just what I said.

Sorry.

I knew what you meant but did a double take.

Okay, now I'm going to start sleeping, I'll wake up to hundreds of unread posts again, I'm sure.

Ah HA!  I caught you, Vehve!  That is not how we Americans would say that.  We say "I'm going to bed now."  It actually only means that we are going to start sleeping, though.
:gig

I was already in bed, hence the need to sleep instead of doing something else was mentioned. Normally I would go to bed, hit the hay or sack, get some shuteye, wander off to dreamland, count some sheep, get my eight hours, need my beauty sleep, or pass out.

Hey there vehve ... I am delurking to add, you forgot "push out Zzzzzzzzzzzzz's" :)

I still love this thread and read all the posts but kind of gave up posting because I was always so far behind the conversation. Think of me as 'the quiet one'; you know what they say about the 'quiet ones'
