The Old Folks Home

I don't mind the shape I bought some bread bags with the twist ties and the loaf fits in the bags just fine. The loaf reminds me of the old pan style bread that women made back in the day before there were ovens. I tried to make some homemade bread a few times and for me it is just to much work and when I did the bread in the bread maker I could not taste the difference and it was easier and quicker. But everyone has their own way of doing things! I know my sister used to make 20 loaves of bread at a time and freeze the dough so she could take it out and pop it in the oven when she wanted fresh bread but it took her all day.

I make stuff like this with a kitchenaid:

I have the same problem with odd shaped loaves in the bread machine but we do use it sometimes to knead the dough when I'm running behind.

Making 2+ loaves of bread a week for years, I still screw up sometimes. So don't feel bad.
I love fresh homemade bread and I don't mind the large loaves of bread I think they make a very nice sandwich. :)

Quote: It all looks wonderful Ron! I can make other recipes and put the dough in different shapes or in different pans and put it in the oven if I want. I just prefer to make it in the bread machine. lol I guess I've gotten a little lazy in my old age. But after working my butt off working three jobs and raising 5 kids as a single mom I think I can afford to be a little lazy sometimes. lol

I have got to make your trinity rolls at some point.

Your pizza dough is amazing, and likely I will be making that at some point this week.

I also think you get an out for the arthritis.

It takes a bit of hand work to shape dough.

I guess I just cannot do homemade bread well. I bought a bread maker and it came with a book of recipes and I can just pour everything in the pan and use the express button and have bread ready in an hour and it's good bread! I can also make jam and jelly in it in an hour and it's good. So I guess I cheat...   But I can't do it all other wise.

I used to take my breadmaker into work and start it there. A few hours onto my graveyard shift- fresh bread!

I did the same with a crockpot too. Working nights without being able to leave the building meant you had to bring meals with you. But I think I had some of the best smelling shifts ;)

I'm hungry too - I want some banana nut bread - any nut but peanuts. I can't bake anything at home because no matter how many servings it's supposed to be, I eat them all - in one day. I tried freezing things solid, didn't help. Don't even wait for it to thaw out, just gnaw at it like a bone. But, it's all good, keeps me from being bored, plus grinds down the sharp spots on fangs.
