X's 2! Enjoy your time with parents!

The roofers are almost done here and then finally I will have a nice metal roof that doesn't leak. On his way out, the big burly roofer in charge asked me if I'd show him how to butcher his roosters.

Of course I will, but that was just about the last thing I'd ever think he'd ask a girl for help with.

SCG, perhaps you have a manly air about you?

*Edit* I might add, Karin does the butchering around here, I just do the initial dispatching. But she's far better at the cutting.

Ugh I do not want to discuss roofing this week. Remember we had the roof blow off our barn earlier this year? Well the roof to our 4-5 year old house got a leak in it recently and we had the same roofing company come out that replaced the barn roof to fix the house roof. The owner told us it could be one of two things. Option #1 $80 fix around a vent or option #2 an approximately $450 repair on a valley section of the roof. Had him do the $80 repair. Two nights later it rained hard and I woke to the ceiling dripping again. Should have just told him to do the expensive repair the way they built our house. The valley on the roof is now fixed and yeah the original installation of that section was all messed up. I don't even want to think about what is under the shingles on the rest of the roof. :/

That kind of poop makes me so mad. I can't stand for someone to charge me good money to do a job and then not do it right!

Then when you call people out to give you an estimate, they get offended if you inquire about their training and experience, or ask for references.

THEN, they leave and you can't get anyone else to call you back or to show up when they said they will.

I have to stop now or I will blow a fuse........

SCG, isn't he the one with....wait for it........slikies? He isn't really going to try to eat a silkie is he? He realizes it would take the whole chicken to get as much meat as on 1 buffalo wing, right?

Wisher I am right there with you. I have no problem paying people a decent amount to do a decent job. We paid $207K to have the house built. That works out to about $100 a square foot. We paid another $25K to have the barn built. The roof was not put on to code on the barn. I have a lot of other cosmetic (well I hope it is cosmetic work) I have to get fixed before I could even ever put this place on the market. My parent's home, built by a development contractor (not quite as good as a custom builder), was finished in 1976. They lived there for 30 years and never replaced the roof. Granted it needed to be replaced before we could sell the house when my dad passed away, but the ceilings never dripped in 30 years. The walls never cracked. I could go on but it just gets me  :rant
