The Old Folks Home

Ours is as weird as her family. She'll catch and kill them, but won't eat them. Drop a raw carrot or potato on the floor and she's all over it. She's good with the chickens but will go chicken bowling if she's bored.

I heard in Texas they have "turkey bowling" with frozen turkeys - don't think your doxie could bowl them over

Boy a "foul throw" could kill someone!!

I just don't get the tiny dog thing, and I certainly don't wish to offend anyone, but why? If your dog can fit in your purse why not just get a cat? Some stores size discriminate, too. Could you see me walking in the Walgreens with Daisy? Of course she'd never fit in a purse...people would have a hissy. The drool alone. Okay, the drool could be hazardous to other shoppers so maybe they could possibly have a point.

The main part of our house was built in 1848. When we first moved in we had to remove about fifteen layers of wallpaper from the upstairs rooms. No closets. At all. I love it, though...it has so much character.

Big burly men. I love 'em. DH is 6'4" and stout. A Viking. Bawls like a baby all the time. Loves musicals. Both parents taught music and all of his siblings play an instrument. DH plays the trombone. He just made me sit through The Music Man for the umpteenth time the other day. I don't mind, I've made him watch 13th Warrior just as many times. People tease us all the time and claim that we have it all backwards because he does most of the cooking and cleaning and I'm the one watching sports. He collects old movies and I collect medieval weapons. (and play with them) He is scared of the roosters. And he's the perfect guy for me.

Have you ever seen a tiny ketchup bottle? Or the miniature booze bottles? And thought how cute they are? Same thing with animals. I have a 2# Yorkie, her name is Candy, it's short for Pocket Candy. She is so tiny and so cute. I can cuddle her, if she lets me, anywhere I am. Mostly I don't take her anywhere but when I do everyone looks at her and comments on her. They always think she's a puppy and are amazed when I tell them she is 5 years old. I also have an 11# Yorkie and he is an arm full of love. It just seems like the tinier they are the more personality they have. I guess because they get more attention than the bigger dogs. Pirogue, my big boy is just as full of personality but it's kind of like it's expected in dogs, it's like he's not unique by just being himself. At the park no one notices him except people who recognize he is a Yorkie but everywhere I take Candy, people notice.

Well, that's something I can agree with, our dachshund certainly has a lot more personality than the labs do - they're more generic dogs. The dachshund is a little turd, before we got the labs we also had another dachshund who now lives with Karin's parents. When we fed them, Älize (the one still living with us) used to run to the door and bark like crazy, prompting Peppis to do the same. At this point, Älize would quickly return to the food bowls and gobble up both servings. She's a very intelligent dog. And very opportunistic. But still, she's very lovable too.

Yes, yes, yes, I remember that episode - I loved WKRP - what a great show that was & also Night Court, and Barney Miller and probably a million others that didn't have nudity, or foul language - but, they made the audience crack up laughing.

They pull blood from the wing and do a couple swabs from each bird. I can give you much more information next Tuesday.

How much do they charge? I might have already asked you that but if I did, I forgot the answer and what it was posted under.
How many of your chickens will they test?
Houndit had it done and I read somewhere they test all the chickens over a certain age.

I watch a lot of shows and just for fun imagine what it would be like if every time they curse/use foul language they said something else or just didn't say what they said. I can tell you that most of the shows/movies would have been just as good if not better without the bad language. Maybe better because the bad language wouldn't be a distraction for someone, like me, who objects to it.

I have an almost 38, almost 35 and a 28 year old sons who curse in front of me. The younger 2 more than the older one. You better believe I call them on it. I still threaten to wash their mouths out with soap and their kids think it's funny. Wonder who will be laughing in another 10-15 years? I also have an almost 21 year old grandson who we raised as a son and he still lives with us. He does not curse in front of me, I am not sure he curses at all.

I am not perfect and I am not a prude, I have cursed in front of them but only when I was soooOOOO mad that nothing else would do and I wanted to shock them and get their attention.

I just don't think cursing needs to be every other word out of someone's mouth or that they need to use cursing in place of a better word. I think I am going to go deaf the next time someone talks like that in front of me. I am not going to try to figure out what they said, I am just going to tell them I didn't understand a word they said. Wonder if that would work. I do have other family that talks that way and no, my kids didn't spend much time at all with them when they were young. I think it is TV, movies and friends that teach kids to talk like that. I always told mine that if they have to talk like that, they better do it away from home. I don't even want to hear it out in my yard. Ahh, movies, I got to put up with if I want to see the show but just because I watch them and listen to them doesn't mean I have to talk that way, and I don't so my kids should see me as an example.

On the other hand, my husband doesn't seem to mind those words as much as I do but he limits himself in front of me and will jump the kids with me if he hears them talking that way in front of me. Yeah, I threaten him with soap too, but he's not afraid I'll do it. LOL
