Astro turf as bedding and padding. Also like the roll away because the eggs are usually cleaner.

Needs a paint job and some sort of liner... I'm thinking astro turf. Hoping if I get it up before they start to lay they won't protest the lack of bedding like my other girls.

@hennible , I've logged every single egg's weight every single chicken has laid so far, mainly to track the egg size development, but since you get the amounts too you can calculate all kinds of trends. But I write down how large an egg each chicken has laid every day.

By chance, do you have OCD? I can't imagine doing that. Or ever be willing to do that. I do have OCD. My form is for me to clean house to perfection. If I can't do that I don't clean at all. So half clean, half messy.

Any way I thought @Alaskan would appreciate that it made outta old Rubbermaid tote lids.... A little more practical and functional than a new piece of plywood.

How does this work?

Hopefully the poop will hit the trays when they roost at night, then the lids just pop out so I can dump it in the yard... Wait I mean compost
