The Old Folks Home

Well I managed to build a roll away nesting box today.... Think its to cold to bother painting it. Next some roosts and a poop board. After that some lumber wrap to protect it all and also some to keep the run snow free, ideally.
Woo! productive.

LOL When I asked how it works, I thought the lids were to catch the eggs. I thought the "roll away" part was for eggs. LOL Thanks.

I love the idea of keeping a 2 year supply on hand. For a single person it would be a no brainer. What I want to do is keep it rotating ALL of it. I can live completely without flour So I wouldnt have to store grains. I dont bake.... I know about storing grains though because I would keep beans and rice on hand... just by filling the bins with either nitrogen or CO2... You can reach in with a scoop and take out what you need without disturbing the bucket full of inert gas.

For a protien based grain material that can be used as flour I have a Mesquite tree. Their Beans, Pod and all can be ground for flour.

Water storage I have 3000 gallon water tank Which Needs to be plumbed to the house so I want an additional one for home use put in for at least 6000 capacity. I have the booster pump to provide water pressure from it.

I have also read that you can use just regular canned goods if they are stored properly... Temperature and humidity.... But I also want to home can for preserving what I can grow hydroponically and any meat I might harvest.

We have the occasional deer that wanders through. and Mule deer are huge compaired for others. but Rabbit is the most plentiful... Jack rabbit, Bush bunny, And cottontail.

If I can get solar going on my place I can go completely off grid.

Now that is cool!

Seeds! Another great storage..have that too..and, a lot of seasonings..have to have flavor. Especially if I am going to eat a deer. We have some nice Mule deer here too deb.. I've shot a couple back in the day, I like the .. rump roast, .. and the jerky made from it. Didn't care for the stakes..had some good seasoning to go into the rump roasting.

@vehve

Checks are very useful for things like paying cod feed delivery. The electrical bill in a town with no data connection, leaving with the sugar cane farms secretary to encash to pay for stuff that needs to be delivered and the vendor only takes cash.

They are not for paying for groceries at a supermarket.

Next subject. Protein

When did you start on 27% protein? That's really high. The urea in your chickens' poop must be really stinky.
