The Old Folks Home

Not my favorite caliber... Even a leaf will offset it's trajectory. They should go with some decent 7.62mm rifles if they really need assault rifles. I really liked the Finnish Kalashnikov copies, especially the older ones. The folding stock version of the Sako RK 62 was my favorite. The more modern 95 version was too front heavy for my taste. But I really don't understand why cops would need automatic long range weapons. Surely a regular rifle or a machine pistol would do.

All I saw was the Butt sticking out of a scabbard.... My son identified the gun.... Here is a write up

May or may not be an accurate write up.... But it addresses the whys for Police....

This is just my personal opinion, and doesn't completely apply to you, as you would probably be more familiar with that kind of a weapon, but why do you need an assault rifle for coyotes? Wouldn't a regular rifle be enough? Or do they usually come in swarms of 20?

Next gun I buy will be either a Remington 700 or a Tikka T3, I think. I'd like to start doing some sharpshooting as a hobby. But for now, my Benelli Supernova 12 gauge has been enough for all my needs.

I didn't choose it for coyotes, silly, my DH bought it for me because he wanted it! I know that, he knows that, and I'm pretty sure he knows that I know, bu he would never admit it.

I like it for coyotes, however, because it is accurate to about 200 yards, will generally be needed at 100 yards or more, and the combination of high velocity and light weight means that when the round enters a body, it bounces around and does lethal damage, rather than passing straight through like other high powered rifles would.

One thing I don't recommend, is spending the day at the range with a dragunov wearing only a t-shirt. Those 7.62x53R:s pack quite a punch. My shoulder/brest was blue after that. But it is a fun gun, although not really a sniper rifle, at least not with the original optics.
