I didn't read debs article yet so it may have been addressed but part of the need for our law enforcement here is they are simply out gunned most of the time. I can think back several years ago (it may have been in California ) a bank robbery was taking place and the robbers had armor on. The police couldn't get close enough to them to pierce their armor because the criminals had bigger weapons and could keep the police pinned down. It was a mess. With the internet you can order just to turn almost anything into an automatic and it is still keeping the police out matched.

It is a training video that I have seen many times in the past 25 years. It happened two years before I got hired....

...And some people want us to work without military equipment.

Hey there, Chickencanoe!

Annabellebond sounds so, well, driven. Possessed even. But more power to her! My cousin is like that with his running...he does the 100 milers and the 14,000-foot runs over several mountain ranges. Been that way all his life. As he said, "It's the only sport I was good at." I'd be snoozing on Saturday morning and he'd be doing 13 miles around Lake Merritt.

The nestbox and roost are on opposite ends of the coop. The area under the roost shelf will have a window in it so it doesn't look too dark and cozy and it also has the chicken door to the outside lodged under there. There are 8 windows in the coop and 6 of them open for ventilation (plus two dedicated vents). Yes, the intention is it is built to last. The chickens will be an integral part of the vegetable garden and food supply here in one form or another.

(Wisher may wish to turn away at this moment....)

I had a friend who on occasion cultivated herbal smokables. He would tie red orbs to his crop to make it look like tomato plants! I guess it goes in all directions.....

My coop today. :hit :hit

It's funny people don't want to approve the money to get the police department to where it needs to be. They are also the same people who would throw a fit if you couldn't protect them. I don't get it! I want law enforcement to have atleast what I have if not bigger and better! If I'm in trouble and can't protect myself with what I have then I sure don't think the police would want to show up with a 9 or a 12 gage. The public is so weird

Like many public services everyone can never be happy with it.... And no matter how hard you try to do your best someone will always find fault in it... Like you said the public is weird... "No I don't want to pay taxes but I want roads and free school and medical care and police services but I don't want to pay taxes for them" :/

I know nothing about growing illegal plants but we had a friend who was this huge biker-dude with the Harley, leathers, beard, tatts etc; a big softie really. Anyways, he rocks up at our place one day, totally depressed and practically in tears because "his best plant was male". I had no idea what he was talking about but it was so funny seeing how upset he was! :)

Another funny story .. a long time ago, a now ex boyfriend and I were taking a trip to visit his Nephew in another state. The Nephew absolutely loved Avocados but they were so expensive where he lived and so very cheap where we were; so ex decided to smuggle a tray of them across the border. A big 'No No' because of fruit fly etc. Anyways, half way through the trip I find the Avocados in the boot and spend the rest of the trip sweating and fretting that we will get stopped and fined!

Luckily we didn't. We get to the Nephew's house and the ex is unloading the boot, giving the Nephew the Avocados and two unlicensed rifles that used to belong to the grandfather!!!

And here I was having a heart attack about some stoopid Avocados while smuggling firearms!!! Needless to say, that relationship did not last very long!

Wisher, that seems like a horrible situation those agents were in. And certainly a case where their equipment was not at all suitable for the situation, but at the same time, I found myself wondering if that was an actual depiction of their movements. If so, I hope that tactical training has been improved a lot since then, because they were not utilizing cover at all. I see that video as an example of the reasons why a lot of time and money should be invested in training, because when you get into a situation like that, you no longer function with your brain. You need to have enough practice to subconsciously select covered positions and move in cover. Of course, I don't really know much about what I'm talking of, since I've never been in an actual firefight, but during my military training that was one thing that we focused a lot on; "Read the terrain".

It wasn't clear to me, why were they apprehending the two men in the first place? Was it a situation that just escalated, or were they really sent to arrest two armed suspects with that little and so unsuitable equipment?

I finally was able to watch the video.... It most certainly was a depiction especially in the live action.... and crime scene photos were the real deal though. This was almost thirty years ago for sure stuff has changed.

I have had experience chatting with Border patrol here... Those guys have state of the art equipment.... Including decent bullet proof vests which they must wear even though its 100 degrees in the shade. It was a hundred and five at my house one summer and out from the brush pops a tracker.... Border patrol in full gear He was so red in the face I was scared for him... I asked him if he wanted some water he just said. "No thank you mam...." He was focused in on the track and crossed my road and disappeared in the underbrush....

Up till the eighties it was unusual to see a cop wearing a bullet proof vest... times change...

Here being in a border town we get the criminals that spill over from Mexico..... And I am not talking about Illegals... I am Talking about drug cartel people who have a history of beheading their "Opponents" Or cops or whom ever.... But they carry the big guns with armor piercing ammo.
