I really need to think about everything i had to buy for them... The local health food store wants me to supply their eggs so I need to be able to price them appropriately...

Sorry guys
(CNN) -- A strong storm over the Bering Sea -- the remnants of Super Typhoon Nuri -- will bring intense winds, massive waves and heavy rain and snow to coastal Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.
But don't ignore it just because it is a sparsely populated area with residents who are accustomed to severe weather. The powerful storm will whip the jet stream, causing a ripple effect that will carry the cold air to the East Coast.
This arctic outbreak will funnel down through Canada over the next week, bringing a deep freeze to the eastern United States, with temperatures forecast 20 degrees below average.

We are working to get our birds some shelter. Since we built open air coops for the new birds. Thanks Oz!

We're not due to have an official freeze until Weds, but my figs have all curled up and cried "Uncle!" and the hollyhocks have laid down. Chooks all happy in their coop, though. Still haven't figured out the roost bar yet, though. Like kiwi, totally flightless. It will probably be the three sky pilots still in the guest bedroom that teach them...they love to perch on anything high.

Thanks for the reminder... got to figure out something to protect the young avocado tree before the first frost!

Here I keep feed in Galvanized Trash cans as well. Those plastic bins are not rat or squirrel proof. I had some and the squirrels went throuh the bottoms from under neath.

I Have kept feed of some sort for 47 years in Galvanized cans... sometimes with a padlock to keep the human pests out too. If you keep the feed in the bag humidity seems to be a non issue.... but here the the humidity is at around 10-15 percent 20-30 percent on rainy days.

Oh also since I was feeding 25 lbs at a time I paid the extra and bought 25 pound bags... So I didnt open the bag till it was time to feed.

Though I would really like to buy a hopper so I can dispense the feed from the bottom.... Those come in plastic but they are off the ground on steel legs

I get my feed at a local Milll. The only one around in the county, and I luckily live close by. Right in the same town!

I have never found mold in any of my feed cans..thankfully! I can see how that could be a problem in other parts of the country.

OZ..wow..good to know for those that are going to be going through this. I can't imagine. I am glad that we have nice weather for now, going to have an open house for guests tomorrow after church because our return missionary is going to speak, then folks drop by. Going to be around 64 out there..so we will hold it outdoors under our carport.
