The Old Folks Home

Being from Texas tamales are always part of the Christmas fare. I attempted to make them for the first time last year but was not impressed with the results. I am too health concious and just couldn't put in all the grease required to make them good. Mine were too dry. In Mexico we had sweet tamales tinted pink with raisins, pecans, strawberries, and plaintain bananas. Those Deb suggested sure sound good.

The problem with Diesel engines is they rely on compression for ignition. So with the old time Diesels they have huge pressures in the cylinders.... Gasoline has a lower compression rate so high compression will cause premature detonation....

After reading this article I suspect Dads story was part Tall Tale.... LOL.

Good point.

I saw a guy do the same thing at a gas station in Md. He almost made it out to the road when he became aware of what he had done. The look on his face was classic.

My first job that I received a regular pay check from was a Standard Oil service station where we pumped gas, checked oil, water, brake fluid and tire pressure on every car that came in. I remember a couple times someone driving out with the hose still in the tank thinking how stupid.
About 4 years ago I was fueling my car and preoccupied with lots on my mind. I can't believe I did the same thing. Luckily the nozzle pulled out of the tank before any damage was done.

Older diesels are fine with a bit of gas in them, 30 years ago people used to add a bit of gas to the diesel in the winter to keep if from separating (5-10%). Modern diesels are fine tuned and you can really mess up an engine with some diesel in there. I usually drive our pug which goes on gas, but once when I was really tired I pumped 15 liters of gas into our Nissan before realizing my mistake. Luckily I caught it before starting the engine, all that needed to be done was to empty the tank. But it did cost quite a lot. Whatever you do, don't go driving if you pump the wrong fuel into your car.

Another fun thing about older diesels, you can drive them on practically any kind of oil. Deep fryer oil is something many use. You just need to filter it carefully, some add a bit of some sort of additive to it.
I won't bore you all again with my story of our Lieutenant that mixed too much gas with the diesel in our diesel stove and blew the whole tent up but I'll never forget the look on his blackened face.

Okay not gas but, my grandmother thought she was taking Pepto Bismol and instead drank some pink Calamine lotion. My mom thought she would die on the spot but, apart from coughing and throwing up pink - I don't think a doctor was called. Life was never dull at our house. But boy, did I wish it was. The stress was killing me.
Took care of the intestinal poison ivy, did it?

now, jump left
It's just a jump to the left.
And then a step to the right.
With your hand on your hips.
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust.
They really drive you insane.
I take it thats poison information?
No, it's her personal phone #

imho....every couple should have the right to be as unhappy as the rest of us married couples.

and the abstinence that ensues

I never could figure out how same sex marriage could have a deleterious effect on hetero marriage.

Here is a pic of our 40 lb. turkey we had for dinner yesterday.

It took 9 hours to get it cooked in the smoker and the legs kept stopping the turning rack in the smoker.

This was our home grown turkey the first one we had cooked for us.

A little boy sat on a park bench eating 1 candy bar after another. A guy sat down and noticed the little boy eating them. He said "young man. Its unhealthy to eat candy bars like that."..The little boy replied, "my grandpa lived to be109 yrs old". The older guy asked, "did he eat candy bars like u do?" The little boy replied " no but he minded his own business"

Our little 8-lb bird made for a hearty meal and then was picked apart for 18 turkey tamales (filling is turkey, roasted green chiles, chipotle powder, jack cheese.) The remaining carcass will be soup tomorrow!
Had my favorite breakfast of pumpkin pie and coffee. Life is good!

(Tamales before hitting the steamer)
Splendid idea.

I have to mention that preparation H also removes puffiness under the eyes....

I've had bags under my eyes almost since I was born, would it work for me?
My dad used to buy canned tamales…I never tried one.
The only Mexican food I ever had growing up was canned tamales. Not even sure if my parents knew tamales were Mexican.
Once an adult, I never stopped eating good Mexican food but never ate canned tamales again.

I saw a young man about twenty cleaning parts at the local air port. We were visiting a friend who was an A&P mechanic for the Confederate Airforce. This young man had a coffee can out on the tarmac and was dipping parts in it and cleaning with a brush. he was using Aviation fuel.... I didnt see the fire... I just saw his sirt turning black and dsappearing on him.... You should have seen the two hangers clear of men who knew what it was grabbing fire extingusiers and blankets to put him out. He was luckey

My grandmother gets upset to think I have a propane tank up at the house that holds 250 gallons of fuel. "Thats a dangerous fire hazard." When I realized it had run empty I was getting ready to get it filled up again. The deal is they are much more hazardous empty than they are full...

Fumes are inherantly dangerous.... Thats why a no smoking sign at the gas station.... and no Cell phones either. In CAlifornia we have vapor recovery on the pumps.... so its difficult to have fumes pool under the car. When I worked for ARCO I had the capability to shut a pump off if I wanted. I would announce over the intercom to put the cigarette out. One fellow Argued with me... I shut his pump off.

I've seen the pictures of people that got a call on their cell phone while fueling. Ugly.

All metal fuel containers are supposed to be grounded with a cable and metal clamp.

Basically, if this proposed equal marriage legislature goes through, it will mean that a gay couple can adopt as a couple, instead of each of them having to adopt separately. Also, they will be able to take the other one's name when they get married instead of changing it later separately. And, instead of having to check the "Registered relationship of two persons of the same sex" box on a form, they can check the "married" box. All this would lead to lighter bureaucracy.

Issues that will still remain after this is for instance a case where a gay couple uses a donor they know to conceive a child, and want that donor to play a part of parent in the child's life. According to Finnish legislature, a child can not have more than two parents. So either one of the people in the gay relationship has to give up his or hers parental rights, or then the donor has to give up his or her rights.

One issue the changed legislature would bring is that gays will no longer be able to use the "Sure, I'd love to marry you, but it just isn't legal" argument with their spouses anymore

But I haven't understood how gay marriage threatens a heterosexual marriage either.

I have made dessert tamales before. The masa mix is sweetened and really good with pineapple inside and a chocolate drizzle with toasted coconut or crushed macadamia nuts outside. I've seen the slabs of guava and mango at the Hispanic market..... I never bought it before, but it might be worth a try to see how the stuff works as a filling.

I personally think the government needs to get out of marraige all together.... Have an offical contract for anyone who wants to get married to cover the legalities and rights.... but the marriage according to church should be up to which ever church will preside....

X2.

And they should leave a lot of other personal rights alone as well.
