Hi and Welcome to BYC

canoe:

this is named storm ruby. I think it's the 18th of the year. Yolanda was the 24th and they started back at "A" after the following typhoon that hit a few days after.

20-30 named storms enter the phillipine area of responsibility.

most storms start out in the Carolina islands a couple of thousand miles away. they generate just north of the equator and as they move west they swing north at some point. most of the named storms zip north well to the east of the Philippines and cause little effect.

we are a few hundred yards below 10degrees North. most storms that do make landfall are already above 10N before when they touch down. by the time they smash and crash the islands to the west of us, they are just good gales when they pass north of us.

one storm a year or two will pass south of us. Queenie was one. We were 50km north of it. Queenie was a cat 1 typhoon but threw off some small tornadoes that ripped up patches of our area including a row of huts next door.

long story. but in five years we have had wind damage of mild proportion three times.

Idiot's Wife, it is a pleasure to meet you. Now we can hear the REST of the story - unless that Bama rascal is pretending to be you - he has many aliases. What do you think guys ???
