The Old Folks Home

Lovely view of the cliffs! I like your lizard, too!

This is my view out the front.

Here's the house from the chicken coop...

Awesome pix.... does your property go all the way back to the trees in the distance. Is that your kitchen window with the four panes?

I couldn't imagine living in such a climate. I would be in for the duration because a rolling walker wouldnt do for outside walking about...

Those cliffs are just piles of rocks.... Bus sized and train sized rocks but just piles of granite rocks.

The fellow that built the house was an artist.... He did mosaics all over that wall as well as inside the house on some of the window sills. He also painted the sliding glass door inside the house with a huge macaw... I have to find a way to preserve it when i take that door out. Maybe turn it into a wall hanging or picture framed wall partition of some sort.

SCG, yeah, it usually gets covered in snow before it has time to go brown. Winter is a bit late this year though. But the grass is staying green. Once we get freezing weather, the snow will come too.

My property only goes to the dirt road in front of the rock wall there, and it goes all the way back to the "main" (paved) road on the coop side. It's slightly under 4.5 acres. Wish we had more land but most of the larger parcels you either got a house from the 1600-1800s or had to build. Yeah, that's my kitchen window. It overlooks the chicken coop, which I really like. I also enjoy having the coop a throwing distance from the kitchen porch (I love chucking leftovers at them). That picture was from 2 years ago or so. The house exterior is now painted a very dark blue (easier to find in the snow) and we got a new black metal roof this year.

The guy who built my house was a preacher, guess I'm lucky there's no evidence of that. I could totally use a mosaic, though.

Getting around here in the winter is tough even without a rolling walker.

I have eighteen acres but barely use five of it. thats about as much as can be managed by one person.... I cant even afford to fence which would make it much more useable.

I know a horse trainer that has a full training facility complete with: pasture, arena, a four horse Full traditional wood barn, a ten horse barn(mare motel), another ten horse barn for extras (barmnaster barn), a huge round pen and wash facility for four horses, a Tack room, and grooming stalls and Trailer parking for about eight horse trailers.... On five acres. OH and they have a huge house and swimming pool for themselves. it was an efficent operation... I couldnt deal with her micromanagement.... I was just a boarder there.

I hope she didn't have outside employment because I can barely keep my house cleaned and my animals fed and reasonably clean. I can't even imagine the work associated with that setup.

We have 4.5 acres but most of it isn't usable. Too many rocks/granite under the ground, plus too many trees to farm appropriately. Oh and the acres and acres of poison ivy.
