I hope she didn't have outside employment because I can barely keep my house cleaned and my animals fed and reasonably clean. I can't even imagine the work associated with that setup.

We have 4.5 acres but most of it isn't usable. Too many rocks/granite under the ground, plus too many trees to farm appropriately. Oh and the acres and acres of poison ivy.

she owns two feed stores that she inherited from her mom and dad and her husband is a painting contractor and fills in on feed store duties. She was actually a stewardess for many years and untill about ten years ago going on occasional runs. Also she is an accredited Paint Horse Judge so she flies all over the west for judging duties.

They have live in ranch help two young men who feed clean and do bedding.... Plus any repair work needed. I do believe she has a house keeper too. they are in the county but under city rules so all horse manure has to be hauled away... There are also two other resident trainers for people... One does the kids and the other does the more experienced riders. No real breaking or rough stock training is done there.

For what its worth board there was four hundred dollars a month. for about thirty horses.... thats 120,000 a month gross. If the horse was in for training with the rider then add another four hundred dollars a month. The trainers were paid a percentage. So about half the horses were with a trainer so that would be another 60,000....

Sounds like alot but after overhead probably not more than a regular income for her from the horses. Insurance alone would eat alot....

My girlfriend who was a boarder ther decided to do one show season with the ranch. At the end of the show season she figured she had spent TEN Grand in logistics gear entry fees and trainer. After that season was over she opted out.... and got hired by the owner as the kid teacher....

I dont have ANY Kind of energy for that lifestyle. I boarded at a plain old boarding stable that had 150 horses a little cheaper by fifty bucks... same good care. I was happier not being under scruitiny for my "skills" they though I had none. I am happy with my background I take things slow as the horse and I need and pretty much wing it.

One horse is enough right now...
