Ive tried alot of jails...Im trying to steer clear of them all. It would suck to have something translated wrong....The last thing I would ever want to do...would be to offend any1.

That's why I said they can break your heart. And agreed that mini's are the worst for pregnancy and delivery.... I've seen mares at a friend's farm turned out for exercise into the pasture trip on a sprinkler and lose the baby... so sad. Another friend had welsh ponies that had horrific foaling problems... After two fatals in a row she opted out of horse breeding. I had one orphan foal that we had to C-section out of the mare (ruptured cecum). The mare was a grand old lady of Crabbet lineage. The baby spent a month at UCD foal NICU. She was delivered close to full term (and weighed a whopping 105 lbs at birth) but had blood poisoning complications. Out of 52 babies at the NICU that year mine and a mini were the only ones to walk out.

Horses for being so big and noble are incredibly fragile creatures.

Your horses have amazing top lines.... One of my pet peeves with modern arabians... I have a friend that through a lesson program was able to buy a Crabbet mare for her first horse. They didnt know what they had...

Pete Mc Niel had his horses here in El Cajon I had a friend that went to work for him as a groom and exercise person...

My Marc was half arab. his daddy was Marki a pretty much unknown arab stallion but he had a great top line and thats what i needed for crossing my Standardbred mare. He was one of those that was born black with white legs and white mane and tail. He eventually turned a very very very dark grey as a breeding stallion... Bold Dapples. Of course he went white eventually. That color gene was skipped on my colt.

Who was the fellow showing your stallion halter... He looks familiar.

That chick is a needy little thing. It is pretty weak - I had to deshell it at the end of hatch. Going into the brooder with a gang of healthy, 2 day older chicks zooming around was a recipe for disaster. All it wanted to do was sleep. And all that it was getting was a few seconds of sleep prior to being run over. It was brooder roadkill. It kept peeping. Loud, obnoxious peeping. It quiets right down when you pick it up and hold it, and it just sleeps.

It finally started drinking last night. I put sugar in the water, so it is getting some calories. Hopefully it will start to get stronger. This momma has to go to work today, so it can't be held.

SCG, I'm sure the chick will be fine, it'll catch up with the rest of the chicks pretty soon.

Our patient's wound is starting to look a lot better, the scab is starting to peel off soon. Once it does and it looks like new skin on the wound, that little guy is going back in the coop. I just hope mommy will accept it. It should be feathered enough to not need to cuddle up under mama, but I hope she doesn't pick on it.
