The Old Folks Home

@vehve in the future, for broodies.....you might consider feeding grapes when you go out to check them. Grapes will keep them hydrated and have the little bit of sugar. I keep grapes around for my broodies. It works really well.

Not a bad idea. The problem here is that she was broody for three weeks before I broke her, then went back to laying for three weeks, broody again, for a few weeks before we gave into it and put some eggs under them, and she apparently didn't continue eating after the chicks hatched. Just too much for a little bird. I somehow think she isn't going to improve, but she has until tomorrow to show signs of gaining strength.

I admit that I skipped a few pages

Oz as usual your children are just adorable! How soon until you get to bring them to the states?
Cynthia, did I misunderstand you? Are you not moving to Maine? I didn't think you were insane like SCG.

Beautiful shots of warm beaches! Wish I could go to one now although like Cynthia said, it has been so unusually warm here. I went for a hike on Saturday up in the mountains and the snow levels up there were way low for this time of year.
SCG that was Lake Powell we saw and yes it is way low too. I want to say it was 30% lower than it's high point if I remember correctly from the boat trip DH and I took to Rainbow bridge.
Here are a few pictures from my hike up to Lake Blanche.

Great Al, now I've got Winter Wonderland playing in my head.

Bama, not enough meat on that bird to be worth eating.

No noticeable improvement from yesterday in Virpi really. We gave her a bit of ketoprofen, and it seems to improve her alertness and make her eat a bit better, so she is suffering from some pain. If she isn't eating and drinking properly by tomorrow, I think it's time to consider culling her.

:hugs

Ron, what breed/color is that?

Dsqard, beautiful pics.

What's love got to do with it....

Whats love, but a second hand emotion....

(lalala, etc. etc. etc.)

(it was that, or I was gonna sing some winter wonderland song..)
Great! Now I have 2 songs in my head!

I never get a thing that ain't been used
I'm wearing second hand hats

Second hand clothes
That's why they call me
Second hand Rose
Even our piano in the parlor
Daddy bought for ten cents on the dollar
Second hand pearls
I'm wearing second hand curls

I never get a single think that's new
Even Jake, the plumber, he's a man I adore
He had the nerve to tell me he's been married before!
Everyone knows that I'm just
Second hand Rose

The Trader Joe's chicks are a cross. The Hens are hy-line white and the roosters are something else. Best guess would be hy-line browns but there may be Some California Grays mixed in too. The Australorps were advertised as being Blue Black Splash.
