Plus a couple of nice shots of the older cockerels. We had really annoying light in the yard, very bright but the trees gave a varying shadow to the whole area, and I got a lot of pics that would have been good if the chicks wouldn't have been standing in the shade.

Chicadoodle! Take care of that hip! Doing what the doctor tells you to do now will save you trouble in the future.

I took a tumble two years ago on the 4th of July (pups knocked me down) and broke a rib or two so I can well sympathize with what you are going through pain wise. It's one of those instances where narcotics are your friend.

So I used to say when people asked me how old I was that I was somewhere between menopause and social security.

Found out yesterday that my SS starts in September.

So now what do I tell people when they ask me how old I am?

Vehve, what breed of chickens are those chicks? Striking color pattern on them.

Whew.... Now I can do a proper Welcome..... I am at that between menopause and Social Security spot right now.

Ouch ribs hurt and they hurt for a long time. I cracked one when I had a bad case of Bronchitis... Just coughing....

So when they ask you how old you are.... I just fire back .... How old are you? then say too bad....

It took a good 8 to 10 weeks for them to heal and yes! Getting up and down was a new experience in pain every time I tried to get in and out of bed. Very painful. Like you, it's just DH and I to run our farm and it happened at the worst time imaginable-summer- when we are super busy.

We retired in January of 2014 and had been commuting between our home in MO and our business in western IL for years so we had our business and our second home to shut down and had to move everything west. Once again it was just DH and I as all of our friends are as old as we are and in worse physical shape. We have one couple who bless them, fed us every time we were there. I remember when moving was easy. This has been sheer torture. We just keep moving slower and slower and it takes us days to recover every time we make a trip there and back. Finally we were forced to slow down because the stress brought my Lyme out of remission and my neuritis flared up. We finally got the house emptied out and we hope sold but it took a year for us to get it to that point where we could even put it on the market. We are still working on the office project.

People keep asking us how we like retirement and they cannot understand when I laugh and say 'What's THAT?'

Starting my flock this spring has been one of my retirement goals however and we are really enjoying watching them grow from chicks to chickens.

My goodness I cannot imagine moving a house and a business.... What kind of business did you have? Just being nosy....

I moved to my last home in 2003-4 LONG escrow....

anyway was going to semi retire... but that didnt work out. Came back to town to work in 2007 and been here ever since... So my house sits partially empty...

I am living with my grandmother who is going to be 99 in July. My son lives here too hes going to college. And My mom is about a mile away.... Four generations of us.. Dad and Grandpa passed in 1999 and 2000 respectively. So there is just us four.

I never married so any fixin has to happen through my work or helpers that I can scrounge up.

How cute is that.... she looks very healthy and intelligent.... Love her fur coat too.

Hey are you giving her something to gnaw on like a chunk of hard wood or a dog bone. IN the pet store we gave them the bones that we sold for dogs to chew on. by the end of a moth the edges would be nibbled off.

they have to have something to wear down their teeth or they will start chewing on the wood of their enclosure.

Yeah, right now her diet is free feed 14% protein grains and rapeseed pellet mix (as long as she's producing milk still, after that will cut down to about half a cup I think), free feed hay, a carrot or apple daily, fresh grass (not that much yet since it isn't really growing properly yet), and then she gets all kinds of twigs, brushes and branches to chew on. Mostly lingonberry and willow, but she eats some coniferous branches too. We try to keep some sort of wood in there for her to chew on all the time. And with her digging up the tunnel every day, we haven't needed to cut her nails either, she keeps them trimmed herself.

Al, yeah, it's frustrating. She should be starting to bring them up soon though. And she still visits the tunnel every day, so I do think theyre's something happening in there. And with her eating so much without gaining weight, she must be dumping a lot of milk. I wouldn't be surprised if ten little baby bunnies would turn up.

@vehveA blacklight flash trail cam would work better if you have plans of also using it for home security.
I have a Primos. Takes great video even at night but has a infrared red flash, animals can't see it but people can. I guess they wouldn't see it unless they were looking right at it but I still wish I got the black flash one.
