The Old Folks Home

Keep that evac plan refreshed.... 40 miles is close enough to do the check list. Of course you know this but others may not know a fire can travel pretty dang fast..... faster than a horse can run in some cases... a thorougbred can do 45 miles an hour for about a mile.

This fire would have to come through the valley and farmland to get here. It is going North, away from Woodland currently.

We are watching so many fires currently that it is scary for sure.

Thanks Alaskan. Since we have decided to stay put (at least for now) I think DH is in a panic about this whole El nino thing. Last time we had one of those we got literally buried in snow and a winter that went on so long we skipped spring completely. He even made sure we already had a locked in price on the propane for the furnace. I really wish I still lived where I had my wonderful big old wood cookstove. Really loved that thing. I've always appreciated and desired to live the more "uncluttered" lifestyle but I doubt my converted city boy DH shares my enthusiasm. Took me years to bring him along this far and now that we are both fogies (tho he is more of an old fogie than I am

) he almost bolted back to civilization on me.

Nothing going on here. My chickens are being grumps, im doing a entrelac throw for the upcoming fall. As far as the building im outta cash, but not johnny cash.:D so im sanding paneling and filling cracks ect to paint it. Im frugal... potty training the son so im kinda chained to the house. I found out that the yuppies pay out the butt for the reusable bags i make out of my feed sacks :lau mommas gonna make some money. Thinking about making tortillas and such to freeze up some breakfast burritos for the husband. He has fall classes starting up. Its hard to be this way in my area. Jeez every one is all about the wrap or mary kay stuff even omg look little billy is in blah blah sports. And im all over here like i read a great book put in 9 hours, love my chickens have couponing and fixed crap. When did society change so much.

depends where you are :idunno

And maybe who you hang out with

We shop at the dump, and thrift stores, but still have wifi

My neighbors live in dry cabins (three dry cabins) It is nice, if we have a chicken or other animal that needs to be killed and we don't want to do it... We just take it over there and gift it to them. :)

I think we are inbetweeners.

A little bit country, and a little bit city. Just right for us old fogies.

That's why I love the Dollar Tree store, I always feel rich, there is NOTHING in there I can't afford to buy. The Spic & Span liquid cleaner is the very best bug killer I have ever used. Makes me leery of using it in the house.

Ron how is your wife doing? We will keep you your family and California in our prayers.
