I taught our current cat to leave the room on command. I have to get her out of the room at night because she keeps me awake by playing too much.

One of the Sororities Off Campus at UCD spreads glitter and sparklies on the side walk from campus to their house. They then use chalk to write welcome messages to the new pledges.

I came home last fall with glitter in my socks....I had some explaining to do with the Family....

OK... I have decided to sell my Marans...



Now, last spring I sold my chicks for $10 each and they sold like hotcakes.



Some guy up in the big city sold shipped up Marans (from fancy people, equivalent to Bev Davis or Little Peddler) for I think $25 or $30 a chick.



So.....



My Marans lay nice dark eggs, have very good form, but are way too black, and vary greatly as the feathers on legs. (But I had some chick buyers that wanted only those with no feathers on the legs, and other that did want some feathers on legs, so not to SOP, but good for marketing).



By males also have tails that are too high.



I had two chicks last year, of the about 100 I hatched that had fused toes. Freaked me out... Nasty.



Ok... I have 4 cockerels,

-1 from a different line, hatched from a light egg, and no copper, but he is blue.

-1 from mine that has the craziest amount of copper, WAY overboard.

-2 from mine that are too dark



I have females-

2 pullets from 2015

2 hens from 2014

3 hens from 2013



One olive egger, with a single blue egg gene, and she looses her egg color too fast for my liking, from 2014.



How much should I charge?

It is hard to set a price locally for special breeds. Everyone wants to pay what you pay at a feed store. My guess is that you can get $30.00 or so for pullets but the cockerels will be in the $10.00 range.

Same thing happens with the Penedesencas and Pita Pintas. There may be only several thousand of each in the World but the price expectation is the same as for Golden comets.

I decided on $300 total... What do you'll think?

I already got one guy in Fairbanks saying he would buy, except he is not sure how he would get them (about 8 to 10 hour drive from my place) and 2 people saying that if I parcel out they want all of the girls... But they didn't say what price.

Would it be worth it, if you drove halfway to meet the guy? I think you should ask for a good down payment first though, as some insurance when you drive there, HE will be waiting .

If you sell the females to the person for a good price - it may be harder to dump the males. Sometimes people sell as trios 2 hens 1 roo - just to get rid of the roosters.

I'm probably not the best person to get advice from. I used to get screwed selling purebred puppies from ch.parents etc. as pets. Once they are past a certain age they aren't cute and cuddly and I've had to place them for free - which never turned out. Free pups apparently get treated like garbage. Gee. two gone to different homes and by golly both got killed by cars running after a ball.
