The Old Folks Home

Thank you for sharing, Ron. I had a run in with a hoe earlier, I managed to step on it and slam the handle into the side of my head. I'm glad I'm not the only klutz.

Also note to self: after having birds for more than 5 years on a certain type of litter, don't suddenly change brands. Shavings are not shavings are not shavings, the birds told me tonight as they all stood on the coop porch and stared into the abyss of the coop, not wanting the new, fluffier litter to touch their toes. Because it will kill them. It took 40 minutes PAST bedtime to get them all in tonight.
I am happy you are ok!

Chickens are funny about their space.

Ron please be careful - too many falls and they dump you in a nursing home.
Thanks Diva!

I want to stay out of those places.

Oh my goodness Scg and Ron please be careful.

Scg my DH changed out the coop bedding a few weeks ago and our girls are still yelling about it! We did the cleaning and worming all together and added some new roost's.
Our girls liked the leaves we put in their coop last fall. It is time to vacuum them up and put them into the coop again. lol It makes nice deep litter for them to keep turning. And it was nearly a year before it started smelling. Free litter!

I have thrown out a few pots in my time when they stick to much they are gone! Like Scg said. :)

Diva you know your going to have to teach dude he can't slap his momma even if the grits are the bomb.

Scg could you please tell me how you cut your fabric in circles? I was looking for some cutting tools last night and did not really like any of the ones I saw. But I don't want to buy that cut-n-go either. lol

Depends on what you want a circle for.

For most of them, with applique, I trace a circle onto a sheet of regular ruled/lined paper. I then use clear packing tape over the top and back to make it sturdy, then cut it out and use that.

Jeeze Ron and SCG... try to be a little more careful. I admit though, I did

Talking about slapping mama, when my son was about 12 or so there was that commercial where the kid says "you wanna dance old man?" I hadn't seen it but my son had. I had taken all the kids out to dinner and in the restaurant at the end of dinner and I don't remember why but my son did the "throw down" and said that to me... The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I was getting up to have at him and my other 2 kids grabbed me and explained what it was.... We still laugh about it to this day. The look on his face was rather comical... not sure mine was. Now he's about 4" taller than me and out weighs me... also in much better shape.

I know!

I could have hurt myself more though.

:tongue

Great jokes...

I got the kids to process all of my extra cockerels. Whew! So happy I am done with that. I had too many males in the bantam coop... I am thinking that the ones lowerest on the pecking order will feel a bit better now.

They got 8 done, 6 bantams and 2 standard sized.

I still have a mess of ducks to do :sick but those can wait for another day.

I need one more coop.... Maybe two -sigh- it is time to split up breeds so that a month from now I can start collectng eggs.

I have had requests for Dominiques, EEs, d'anvers, and one person wants standard black Ameracauna, the rest just want EEs, bantams and standard. :idunno

Not a single person wants my leghorn spitzhauben crosses.... Sheesh.... Adorable and practical, Great laying and tiny tophats. No accounting for taste. :old
