The Old Folks Home

I think it's funny chickens, no roosters are allowed in NYC but there is some small rural towns that do not allow chickens.
Small city near me, Oneonta just OK'd up to five hens, any processing must be done inside.

92 of the 100 largest cities in the US allow chickens.
In my experiences, it is usually the smallest and/or poorest towns/cities that disallow chickens.

Almost every rich city in our county allow chickens and roosters.

Our chickens are livestock just as the cows are. We are tested and covered by the NPIP program. The Dept. of Ag asked us to call them if any of our calf's or cows die and they will pay us to take their head's to have them tested. It may be because we are next to a feed lot and across the street from a feed lot. The cows and calfs that come and go thru there sometimes get sick and cause some of our's to get sick and die as well as some farmers behind us. We have talked about it but there is nothing we can do. The man that owns the feed lot also owns most of this county and the livestock auction here in town. He feeds the cows and calf's and ships them all over the country to buyers.
We mostly lose our young calf's making it difficult for us to increase our heard size and that is hard on us. As our cows are completely grass fed only.

Whoever said red birds would be pretty sure was right. Myself, Dsqard and another friend are doing a sew-along this weekend. These are the ones I'm making.

I found some awesome battery powered motion lights "Mr Beams" on amazon. I put them on the back door, and all around the animal yard. It really makes doing chores during dark that much better.
Those are very pretty I do love the red as well as the blue.

I am going to go look at Mr. Beams on amazon as I am looking for some lights for our RV awning.

Well the mad rush to get Christmas projects done in time is on. As SCG said, we were both working on the cardinal version of the wall hanging. I just got mine done. This is going to be a gift. The blue jay I actually sold to a lady I am friends with on Facebook. Now I have to get some no sew fleece blankets done and a few other smaller projects and then I can relax about Christmas.

I changed all the bandages on the rooster's feet today, and put on more neosporin. I'm very surprised at how good they look. They're healing very quickly, so I took him back to the coop. He was so happy, crowing up a storm to announce his return, and the other roosters crowing back at him, probably telling him to go away. His ladies rushed out of their coop into the run to greet him. He was so charming with them, then all the hens backed off. Once again, he began putting forth his best effort to charm them, and they were having nothing to do with those goofy looking feet.

dsqard that is a beautiful quilt also.
