They aren't even close to one another. Well I guess above the arctic circle they are.
Is this what you're talking about?

It's the Whiskey War. http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/wilderness-resources/blogs/canada-denmark-wage-whisky-war-on-rocks
Aren't Japan and China arguing over a group of islands too?
I think they are the Senkaku island chain in the East China Sea.
I just discovered there is another dispute in the South China Sea between Korea and Japan.

Can't we all just get along?

Ahhh, what's the fun of that?

I did order these young chicks to take up for the ones we lost and the older hens we have. As our egg customer list had grown a bit and we did not have enough eggs to meet the demand. And my DH got to fussing at me for fixing us eggs on the weekends! I told him I was going to have some eggs since I did all the raising, and that We come first! lol

Weird isn't it? Want to support our 'customers' so we don't want to eat our eggs. But the reason we have chickens is so we can eat the eggs!

I agree on the pig smell, that's about the worst animal produced smell there is. Wouldn't want to live down wind from a broiler farm either...

And as much as I like dogs, I can't stand them barking for no reason at all. Luckily, most of our dogs stay quiet unless there's someone at the door.

Not looking like much of a winter here, so people are coming up with alternative methods to spread Christmas spirit.

Looks like here, minus the hay roll snowman. We have a bit of snow on the ground for 2 days. Gone now and raining, Supposed to be 60F and raining on Thursday, partly sunny and 46F on Friday.
The Days get longer after today so they will get going again.

I collected 11 eggs yesterday. Five of them are from my 5 Trader Joe's Pullets--They will be Hens on January first though.

They are great layers for sure!

And here I thought TJs only sold eating chickens and eggs. Maybe there aren't any feed stores or TSCs near you that sell chicks.

Me, too, SCG.

We love you Deb, and I, for one cant imagine why some man didn't see in you what we see. With all you know, and all you've done, and your love of animals and dancing and mechanical design, you are strong capable, and independent and.............Oh, wait................... I think I might know....... but I can't say in mixed company, it might offend the guys here.

I'll just say that I can relate. There's only a few out there that are drawn to a six foot tall woman that carries a gun for a living, and I wasn't too interested in the ones that were!

As one of the guys here: I object! Wouldn't want anything to do with an "arm candy air head" woman :D

Someone asked me once Dont you get lonely without a partner. There is a big difference between being alone and being lonely... I am not lonely. The lonliest I have ever been was in a room full of people. Once I got outside I was only alone.

does that make sense?

Yep

yep... California's water comes mostly from snow. My well is down 100 feet. and its 450 feet deep one of the shallowest on the mountain. My well guy said its like that all over. Recovery time is slower also. But my well has been that way since the Simpsons sold the place to the Church.

San Diego has been in water conservation mode since I was in High school.

The last dregs of water from the Colorado feed the imperial valley Agriculture before it makes its way through Mexico. It used to Feed in to the Sea of Cortez. Now it falls short by about ten or twenty feet. They used to be able to pilot a Stern wheeler as far up as Yuma AZ.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steamboats_of_the_Colorado_River

We meaning the US sucked the Colorado river dry.

San Diego gets 60 percent of its water from the Colorado. We just had a Desalination plant go on line in Carlsbad December 14.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlsbad_desalination_plant

Also in the works is water reclamation. Santee has been on the leading edge for some time for water reclamation. Since 1959. And just recently they have started offering Santee residents Free water. You have to go and fill up totes there. It is considered only to be used as irrigation. But its as pure as any lake water....

Most of Santee public areas like parks are irrigated with purple water pipes. Purple pipes indicate reclaimed water.

http://www.padredam.org/130/Water-Recycling-Facility

and yep its reclaimed from sewage.

That is what happens when too many people move to a place that is basically a desert. I did my part, I moved east, WAY east.

Glad to hear they are finally deciding that the bazillion gazillion gallons of water in the Pacific could be a source of water.

OK, I looked at Hans Island. Geez who cares! It is just a big flat rock, no harbors, no vegetation.
