Hi everyone!

Hey Kathy.....![]()
Hi there! How's Southern Cal?
-Kathy
You want any of my peafowl feathers? Pay for shipping and they're yours!@Lsky
Many of us raise our animals for food. IN my case I want to know how well it was treated from day one. I want to know it had the best life possible and was humanely Dispatched without drama. I also want to be sure to use as much of the animal as possible without waste.
For instance.... I want to raise Guinea Fowl. There is a good market here for Keets because this is Tick country. So I hope to sell Keets and hatching eggs. But there will be leftovers for the season... those that dont go into the breeding flock will be processed.
Guinea products I want to sell:
- Feathers
- for crafting
- for Fly tieing
- Pelts for fly tiers
- Blown Eggs
- for crafting
- for carving
I want to make
- silver wire jewelry
- decorated eggs
- carved eggs
- dream catchers
I will be making my own from all my poultry
home canned
- broth
- meat
- Bone broth
- dog food
- stew
preserving
duck meat
- Proscheuto
- Pastrami
- Corned duck
- Jerkey
- sausage
- fat
- Comfied meat
I also want to raise Tilapia for the table through Aquaponics setup. Not sure I could do the whole thing with the hydropnics too. But I know how to raise fish....
Processed and filet and frozen or
Home canned
Preserved
- like tuna
- like sardines or kippers
Fish bones and skin and leftovers
- smoked and dried
- smoked and canned
- Turned into Fish stock
After fish stock the bones can be ground for fish meal added to garden... or fed to the chickens. Same goes for bone broth processing of all left over bones.... once the broth is made the bones powder up nicely
I may try to raise sheep for meat but I would have to have help with the processing.... Barbados Black belly is a hair sheep and the meat supposed to be lean.... but I am afraid of sheep.... funny that.
I am not afraid of goats but the only goats I will have will be pets.

I have learned that there are certain subjects I should stay away from.Hey Kathy! Good to see you here.
Hmmm I got "bad boy slapped" three times (I think). I try to stay level headed. This is a pretty great thread as I can only remember a couple times when there was any "heat" to the discussions and it simmered down rather quickly. We do need to keep in mind that "freedom of speech" doesn't exist here as we are guests to/of the site owner and therefore, the rules are set (and enforced) by him/them or designated representatives.
If you (or anyone else) want to be a veggan (or state any opinion or belief), then that's your choice and effects nobody else, so have at itIt's even OK to proclaim your choice and back it up. It only gets to be a problem when you try to downgrade another's counter belief or be disrespectful of others in general. It's kinda a fine line sometimes when freedom of speech is restricted to being PC (politically correct).![]()
Anyway... moving on. Glad you're getting your desk back LSky. Looking forward to seeing more of your drawings (that you're willing to share).

I'm definitely not PC, trust me.. Lol. But once you get me started I may never stop. I'm always happy to answer people's questions and discuss things, but most people just seem to stick their fingers in their ears and shout at me, not literally of course but you know what I mean.Hey Kathy! Good to see you here.
