I want birds that act like birds and could have a full life if I didn't butcher them by a certain age.

Just my personal preference.

We're getting massive amounts of squash bugs and cucumber beetles here. Just put my traps out and went and squished a bunch. I also let the guineas out because they're supposed to like them.

But eggs are still definitely not healthy for you.

You're young. I'm not going to argue with you but my suggestion would be to keep an open mind. Our understanding of the human body and nutrition change on a daily basis.

Plant foods don't contain cholesterol, our body produces the cholesterol we need. Eating a lot of saturated fats can increase you're production of cholesterol, therefor increasing your risk of heart disease. Not everything vegan is healthy, obviously. This is the reason why oil is bad for you. A large chicken egg contains about 180mg of cholesterol. Perhaps not the unhealthiest of foods, but that doesn't make it healthy for you.

I don't want to get into that right now, it would take too long. Anyway, point is, I get all the nutrition I need from plants, so eggs are just unnesessary in my diet.


When the pharmacuitcal companies lobbied to lower the limit so they could sell more drugs, my cholesterol finally went a couple of points over and i started taking statens. My doctor said cholesterol is fat and most people who have high levels are either sedentary or genetically cursed. For most people it has little to do with diet although exercise can help since it increases metabolism.

Most cholesterol in your body is manufactured in house, not eaten.

Go read some of the recent studies about how cholesterol is produced. The oil is evil is not as true as thought. Butter has been found to be nutrition neutral while olive oil and similar have been found to be healthy. Fish oil lowers triglycerides and blood pressure.

What happens is that an assumption is made and then research shows that the assumption was wrong. Recently a bunch of studies have shown that sodium is not as bad as thought. A quote was:

Regardless of what the research is showing, it makes sense to us that salt is bad so we are not going to change anything based on the research.

The research showed that not eating enough salt is worse for health than eating too much.

My point is that nutrition is very complicated. The danger is messing up your health by not eating a balanced and nutritious diet.
 
Still trying to figure out why people join a chicken forum and tell people not to eat chickens or eggs.

I believe blood cholesterol levels are influenced mostly by genetics, and not necessarily the amount of dietary cholesterol consumed.

I'm not preaching to anyone, the subject was brought up and I am simply discussing it.

And I assure you, as young and dumb as you may think I am, I have done extensive research on this subject and am quite knowledgable when it comes to all things vegan.

I don't eat meat and dairy mainly for ethical reasons, but also for health and enviromental reasons.

I don't eat eggs for mainly ethical reasons, and I won't eat our own hens eggs for mainly health reasons.

I loved dairy, I still do, I wouldn't give up these things without good reason.
