The Old Folks Home

Diva if you're hard up I have a lot of things I'd like to get off my mind so I could sleep.

Also, in your honor today, I decided to pick up a new flavor of ice cream. Even BF remarked (I don't like to try new things). It's Haagen Dazs caramel cone.

It's decidedly not bad.

Ohhh that sounds good. Did you use a hand crank or something else?
I was checking out Amazon returns and found a gourima icecream freezer. It has a compressor so you do not need freeze anything--It was very discounted and makes about 4 cups of ice cream. A very nice size.

Recipe:

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 40 Minutes

Ready In: 2 Hours 45 Minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients:

2 cups Chocolate milk
2 cups heavy cream
¾ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup Chocolate syrup

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, stir together the milk, cream, sugar, salt, vanilla extract and Chocolate Syrup until the sugar has dissolved
2. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. After the ice cream has thickened, about 30 minutes later, spoon into a container, and freeze for 2 hours.

That's really cool. I still hand crank my ice cream in a wooden bucket. I don't do it often but the kids get a kick out of it and I use my grandmas recipe which brings back childhood memories.

Grandmas birthday went without a hitch.... 100 years old today.

One Gal came with her Daughters... She looked to be around eighty and her daughters looked to be sixty and seventy.... Come to find out She was 94....All the rest were in their seventies and eighties....

Even Elisabeth the gal that cleans the house came with her Son and Daughter. And the Pizza Guy Joe, who is the owner of our favorite pizza place, came. He delivered the pizzas and stayed about two hours. Hes adopted Grandma as his and is a big softie. He took a bizillian pictures and promised to email them to me.

I couldnt have pulled it off if my son and cousin hadn't helped.

I crashed at about two pm and went to bed leaving Dean to explain and handle cleanup duty. I got up at five and the last two were still here...

soon as I finish destressing I am going back to bed.

I am trying to limit my ice cream making--I can wash the paddle and the canister--make another batch immediately so I could make ice cream all day if I wanted too. No ice or salt or any thing....I would get so fat!

Growing up, we made peach ice cream on Mothers Day with all of the relatives--usually about 40 of them.

Congratulations to Grand Ma!

What a relief to have the 100th part over and done with.

Did they take turns cranking the handle? Our family would and the grown men would stand on the bucket dancing. Usually my pops and uncles. Everyone had to have a turn or they didn't get any!! Lol
