So sorry, AL. I could send you some mutt (Campine, Ameraucana, RIR) eggs to hatch if it would help. I know you are likely making plans to start again with some quality birds/breeds, but I will help if I can. None of mine are segregated at the moment, but you are welcome to whatever you want. I think you have enough buddies here that we can give you a jump start on rebuilding.

So kind of you wisher...

Nothing got into the main flock (in my chicken shed).... I am putting out traps for tonight... But mostly gunna cross fingers :fl until tomorrow... Tomorrow I will start super predator proofing the shed. Some erosion has made some possible stoat ingress spots... Easy enough to keep the owl out... But that stoat :barnie

The chicken shed has my Dominique and pips and peeps standard sized black ameraucana. I also have one black Ameraucana cockerel in my green tractor. Don't think I can make my tractor stoat proof :he The green tractor also has my rose comb dark brown leghorn cockerel and my bantam white leghorn cockerel.

My chicken coop, if I close the windows (what is life without ventilation... All good  ) I should be able to make that stoat proof... That has my one blue Ameraucana cockerel and three fancy colored spitz cockerels...

The muscovy... Papa drake has killed a stoat before.... But I have one duck-hen that is sitting on a nest in the raspberry bushes... Not so sure the drakes are guarding her properly... :barnie I am pretty sure that I have their place owl proof....

But I have two first time duck-moms with 20 ducklings.... Not sure they can watch over that many... Not against a stoat.... I think I will herd them into the coop next to the drakes.... But then the one mama is all alone in the raspberries!! :barnie

Then I have the white tractor with the three bantam survivors.... And the one injured blue wyandotte bantam in a dog crate.... Totally stoat accessable....

Whatever....

:he

50 chickens chunked into the shower is not an option.

Any praying folks out there, we'd appreciate a few for one of my best friends, family....

His little sister posted this on facebook, prayers are super appreciated.
He's in really rough, bad bad shape, but stable. I didn't want to bring it up here, just praying for miracles.

I babysat him and his older brother when they were little kids and I was a teen. When he was a teen it was him that got me into rabbit hunting with beagles, if you ever saw one of my posts about harvesting hundreds of rabbits and they are excellent done up like hot wings, this was the guy that helped make it happen. I adopted a male beagle pup, tried training him on rabbits just like on the movie 'Where the red fern grows' (that was with coons though) dragged a rabbit through the woods this way and that, to see if he would follow it, he did, but never barked.... I mentioned it to him, thinking I had a crappy silent beagle, he laughed, "why would he bark at a dead rabbit, LOL!" Little punk 15yr old took me and my little male pup with him and his beagle on a hunt, I'll never forget that little pup beagle of mine opening up and bawling like a coon hound after that first rabbit, his female right behind, she sounded yippy, squeaky, turned into a long time friendship. Kid would wake me up every day, come on! lets go hunting! Day after day, lived for it, more for the dogs than us, loved that about him, never shot the rabbit if we jumped it, "let the dogs run it" he'd say...There's nothing to compare it, deer hunting is awesome, IF you get one, rabbit hunting with beagles is a guaranteed priceless....
Praying for you hard my friend.
