Lol, still that's better than me. I should be able to hear all of them. I actually took that test a couple of years ago and I know what your kids are talking about, it does hurt. It sounded like one of those cat alarm things that make a really high pitched sound when they sense movement.

Diva, my tinnitis sounds like crickets alright. Problem with that is it makes it had to differentiate between that and other noises... last week I thought I heard tree locusts but thanks to one of my cats I discovered it was a rattlesnake I was hearing.
Yikes x2!

Walking near a display of CRT televisions almost made me dizzy as a kid; of course, my parents couldn't hear the whine. Isn't there a ringtone that only kids can hear, and don't I remember hearing about stores discouraging kids from just hanging around by broadcasting annoying frequencies on the in-store sound system?

Actually, here in the UK they play it outside shops to stop kids/teenagers from hanging around outside.

Very interesting. After listening, then reading youbtube comments regarde volume settings, I adjusted computer down to 50% from 75 and then could only hear 8000 & 12000(high pitched buzzing). Since I seem to have more real world problems with low tones I found this:

Ultamate Hearing Test
and could hear nothing lower than 200 Hzstarted fading at 4k Hz and nothing above 10k Hz.
I am 57.

Sorry, don't know how to embed.
