The Old Folks Home

Just thought of something, our county fair is right now, they have a maple products booth, sell all the maple products and evaporator systems etc. They have a cotton candy machine and sell pure maple sugar cotton candy, I never buy it so I don't remember how much but it ain't cheap. They're making a killing off that machine! How much sugar goes into it, like a tablespoon?

Our fair is this weekend...

Had been throwing old timber and logs and stuff in my trailer on the back acre and since I'll be moving soon and need the trailer I decided I better start getting it cut up and trashed. Anyway, I bought a new bar and chain for my chain saw and I'm amazed at the difference it made. Like using a brand new tool. It cuts through the stuff like a hot knife through butter. Should have done it long ago and saved myself a lot of sweat and work trying to force a dull chain through stuff.

Our fair started tonight SCG. Not sure we will see any syrup/sap. Ice cream, probably. :) Hot scones, hot dogs, hamburgers, Nachos, Taco's, Gyros, and much more of that fun greasy food.

I love seeing the food entry's. Fresh Veggies and fruits.
The art section is fun too!
Quilts!
Home Made clothing.
There is always this guy that sets up his huge display of legos.
Then there are the animals. Not really that many chickens there the last few yrs. Bunnies.
Cows. Pigs. Lama. Goats.

There are places that will sharpen them for you but when the teeth get too ground down it is time to replace the chain. One it will not stay sharp and two it becomes dangerous.

Good job on getting a new chain and bar.

Nothing better than a fresh chain and bar, butter.
Just put a new chain on mine, awesome. If you want to cut fast and easy like I do, don't buy TSC or any store chains, go to a real saw shop, the "anti kickback" chains are crap, slow cutting, you don't experience 'kick back' unless your cutting with the tip anyway, and not a big deal.. I've got pretty good at sharpening them up by hand with a file, bench vise made it so much easier. Many overlook the bar, it'll get a 'bur' on it all around preventing it from sinking in the wood unless you have a new chain. Flat file takes care of it, just have to take the chain off and file the bur off all the way around it both sides, sharp chain will cut like butter with a good smooth bar until the teeth are filed down to nothing left, bar will last many chains. Dang, winter's coming soon....
