thanks for the welcomes! My aquarium is a 55 gal with South African ciclids mostly, there is a giant plecostomas too. The aquarium is in my home office, am disabled and took an early retirement , so I don't spend much time looking at the fishes anymore. Now I watch chickens. My family thinks I'm crazy, they may be right, but im guessing present company thinks its perfectly normal. I have an awesome service dog, he keeps me going in more ways than one. His only flaw is he thinks all chickens are for chasing. He can't help himself, its in his genes. Lucky for both of us there is a secure fence.

Yeah. I like Peppermint Patties, and mint chocolate chip ice cream, but those mint flavored chocolate chips that came out at Christmas? No, thanks.:sick

We had a bag in our cupboard for a long time, kids didn't like them in cookies. They usually steal what's in the bags of chocolate and white chocolate. I think I was the only one that ate them, I kinda liked them.

@Chicktastick Nice dog. Golden retriever?
Yrs ago one of our kids left the door open and our chocolate Lab had one of our RIR roosters pinned under a utility trailer screaming, then silent when he came out with it in his mouth. I was devastated and super mad screaming. Dog dropped the rooster, he stood up dumbfounded and the dog smiled and looked like he wanted to say "I caught him for you dad!"
Didn't hurt a feather on him Lol!
:-D 'bad dog'...

Chickens can "faint" if they are stressed enough. I remember finding a Polish roo in a puddle of feathers near our workshop once. He shouldn't have been anywhere near there, nor should a dog have been, but it seemed pretty clear what had happened. When I picked up what looked like a lifeless body, he stirred. Other than the loss of some feathers (and his dignity) the bird was uninjured. Never saw the dog; I reckon it must have just left. I asked the roo, "well, did you learn anything?" and put him back inside the fence where he belonged.

thank you beer can, yes he is a golden. It isn't a good pic of him...it makes his legs look real short lol.. I did my best to make my run and coop predator proof, that includes dogs. Considering a sign that says dont let the chickens out or the dog in, no matter what they tell you. I know if the dog got in it wouldn't turn out well for the chickens....the dog, however would have the time of his life.

It is Sept. 23 and you live in Washington. It is normal for hens(over a year old and going into second winter) to slow down and or stop laying when the hours of day light goes below 14. Stopping is usually at about 12 or less.

Do you see a lot of feathers? They usually stop completely for about 5 weeks when they molt.
