The Old Folks Home

Penny did you need stitches? Your chin looks like it's going to show bruise. Hope it didn't loosen any teeth.

no stitches just the upper lip... and dremel of the nails... @drumstick diva I have dentures none damaged
my chin was not touched as far as I know maybe just a shadow

OUCH! Penny, that looks soooooo sore.

3 years ago our two border collie mixes tackled me from behind and knocked me flat on concrete. Broke a couple of ribs, injured the SI joint in my back. The ribs healed. The back never will unfortunately.

Seems as tho I'm always trying to heal up some sort of animal induced cut scrape or bruise. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Take good care of that lip. If your pup's nails are like our dog's they are little germ factories.

@microchick yes and it is my fault... I am having a blast with the baby as it
has been a long time since I have had a pup around and wind her up on a regular
basis...

Are you raising him like a livestock guardian dog? He lives with the flock and stays outside?

It takes special training from what I have read.

Penny, that looks sore!!

I had a young Mountain dog bump my face last month out of play, so I thought. I bent over again to pet on him, and that time, he had his mount/teeth open and bumped me in the exact same place..mouth, nose, and chin area..he has a big mouth! Of course. I got scratched on the upper lip and lower chin. Not bad, but a bit sore.
The gal that had him..on leash, has a real problem handling him. She's been working with him, trying to anyway. There is a park down the street from us that has a dog training class going on..on Saturdays. I see her there with him, dragging her along. Not sure she is ever going to get him under control!

Yes, but that is half the fun of having a pup around. Our two Border Collie mixes are brother and sister and dumped off on us when they were just 7 weeks old. Sister is Border Collie/Jack Russell cross and brother is Border Collie/Coon hound mix. The little boy's pads on his front feet were scoured as if he had scraped off all the pad on concrete. We suspect he was shoved out of an open car window and abraded his feet on the deck of a nearby bridge. Having them around has been a real experience. They are 3 yrs old now and still handfuls of mischief.

Buck and Spot on their way for their first vet visit.
Buck's feet were so sore that he didn't want to stand or sit for very long and Spot was always and still is his shoulder to lean on.

What did it take to heal Buck's poor feet?
When they showed up at our gate they were both covered in a crust of mud and cow flop from head to foot. We figure they had spent some time with the cattle in a pasture down the road before they ventured up to our farm.

We scrubbed the crud off of them and washed Buck's feet which is when we found the injuries. Imagine. Raw skin and cow poop. Not a good combination. Both his front feet were infected and swollen. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotics and then an oral round and he responded very quickly. All we had to do was keep them clean and dry and they regenerated new pad very quickly.

He's a very sweet and happy boy who loves to 'guard' the chickens. It's probably a real challenge for him. The Border Collie half says "I gotta keep these critters in line!" while the Coon Hound half is telling him to tree them.

Here he is enjoying his 'first snow". Sometimes I just don't understand how people can be so cruel.

Quote: first cup this am but you have a part springer in that little one send me the face shot of the taller one
bet they are springer cross not border collie.. Even markings bespeak a springer
